Cake Bake Shop at the BoardWalk is now open

Just wanted to report that my cousin called CBS again and got a reservation for this weekend. Not sure if they opened up more reservations or someone canceled since she just called a few days ago and couldn't get any. She got a confirmation email instantaneously. The screenshot she sent me showed that it came from ConnectSmart Team, if anyone is interested.

Also, I wasn't planning to visit WDW this month, but since my cousin had graciously added a few phantom spots to the reservation, there's a high chance I may be there this weekend. 😂

It’s significantly more expensive than many of the high end afternoon tea options in NYC. Wow.
We have to see what CBS has to offer, but I don't think it's significantly more expensive than the "high end" places in NYC.

What do you mean? The information is listed, with exactly what you get and prices. It is more expensive than many of the high end places in NYC. Russian tea room is a little more expensive, but you get champagne and caviar and an entire menu of savory items.

The Waldorf in Las Vegas charges $64/adult $30/child, the Four Seasons in Orlando charges $99/adult (includes a glass of Collet Champagne and Liquor Pairing) $49/child, and the Peninsula in Chicago charges $140/adult (includes glass of champagne) $65/per child. Take this information as you will, but at their prices the tea service would have to be fantastic to justify the price. I see GF options for the sandwiches but nothing for the pastries or the scone.

ETA: The Four Seasons menu I came across was actually for their Boston location. Their Orlando location offers Holiday Afternoon Tea late Nov-Dec for $78/adult (includes a glass of Prosecco) $38/child.

I suspect, without any evidence, the target market for afternoon tea is special occasions. Bridal groups, granddaughter request...Lowering the price by $20 might not generate any additional revenue.

Maybe I’m not looking at the price properly but if CBS is $95.00/pp and the Russian Tea Room is $145.00/pp ( and yes it includes champagne and caviar) then RTR is charging almost 50% more. Hard to do a comparable for the two menus.

Yes, you’re right. I didn’t phrase it well and delineate between thoughts. 1) there are many cheaper high teas in the city at prominent places and 2) Russian tea room is more expensive, but the cheapest bubbly (maybe not even champagne) at CBS is 22, meaning it’s 117 without caviar and the other savory items (steak) at Russian tea room.

Do you think it’s a good price? I’m not sure if we’re nitpicking what I said or disagreeing that CBS is a ripoff.

I haven’t eaten there yet so it’s not possible for me to say it is or isn’t a ripoff .

There’s champagne and then there is Champagne. Haven’t looked at the wine list for Russian and all I know about CBS’s offering is they have a private label- which can be a good or bad thing.

Just made a tea ADR and hope they live up to the build up. I already told them no edible “sparkles” on my food; I m sure my traveling kiddos will be all in for them, lol.

PS- I’m bringing a half bottle of Champagne (only one legal drinker in the party) to WDW so good chance I won’t order any from CBS.

Many, maybe most, internet discussions on Disney restaurants focus on price and quantity of food offered. Buffet. All you care to eat. Portions big enough for 3 to share.

Afternoon tea is the exact opposite.

While there has been progress in adding CBS to the Disney Dining Ecosystem. The scaffolding is loaded just no dates. It look like the information that @reluctantredhead got over the phone about CBS reservations coming to MDE is indeed correct but with most things it is not quite Cooked as of now.

I'm really glad that I'm not the only one seeing no reservations available, because I was pretty confused when I logged on to MDE only to find that there wasn't a single reservation available for CBS for my entire 9 day trip...for any time of day...ugh. My nieces and sister really want to go, so I guess I'll keep trying though.

I don't think afternoon tea at CBS is a rip-off (yet) since we don't know the quality and quantity of the offerings. Also, I just checked the pricing for a tea place that I used to go in NY and the cheapest option is already $120/person. With 🍾🥂, it could go up to $185/person.

Flying Fish disappeared from the app. Came back after I updated the app.

This thread has gone from "Can't believe it's so expensive, you won't catch me dead there" to "I can't get an ADR there and I need my FOMO itched," often by the same people!
Not me. I've been a "no way in hell" since the start and still am. I think these ridiculous prices set a bad precedent for other Disney restaurants, that, if CBS does well, will start thinking "well, maybe we can push our prices just a liiiitttle biiit higher....".

I said often, not always.

I just emailed for the tea for 12/09. I’ll let ya know if and when I get a response. 🤞🏻
I just received a call about my email request from this morning. I requested noon but 1pm was earliest they had so I took that. I am getting a contract in the email to sign and payment is due within 24 hours.

For me its a me and dd thing. One we often did the GF tea when not staying CL at GF. Two she is expecting and we cant exactly do many rides nor will be able to with a baby or toddler so its now or never.

MDE, current android version, is only showing the bakery, not the restaurant. Check open table. Call or email the restaurant

When is your trip? Currently Open Table is still showing only 1 week out. Also, change your party size. There are usually lots of spots for 4 when I look but almost none for parties of 2.

And still no button to check availability on MDE.
