Caitlyn Jenner

Ok, I think I have this name confusion thing figured out. Not many people get to name themselves. The previous generation (mom and/or dad) pick our names for us. So we wouldn't think twice if a Caitlyn had the honor of naming a new baby Jenner/Kardashian/Dyseck/West, "Caitlyn". So there you have it. Maybe her mom should have been consulted and been given the honor of (re)naming her daughter.

I'd just choose the opposite of my name Michael - Michelle.

Why would you wanna be a girl ...wearing heels, the countless dresses you gotta buy, purses too no way lol.

Anyway I hope he's happy not my life to live so as long as he's enjoy his

No problems changing my name if I were to change my gender... "Lee" is still "Lee"!

Apparently there is a Bruce Jenner Lane in Austin. The residents are debating whether to change the name...

You can't revise history and it amazes me that so many people are trying to do just that. Bruce Jenner was the Olympic star and the street was named after Bruce Jenner. Not Caitlyn. However Austin marches to the beat of its own drummer so they'll probably change it.

Maybe they will name another street for Caitlyn Jenner.

Of course it would go in the other direction. :rotfl2:

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. For the record I fully support Caitlyn.

I would have been James Jr. & would have been called Jamie.

(Mom also wanted to name me Penelope & call me Penny, but my Dad liked Wendy better.)

I have never understood how Austin can be in Texas. I figured either they would secede or be excommunicated.
Houston is more similar to Austin than to the rest of Texas. I don't see how either one of them fit in.

The Olympic committee has officially offered to revise her name to "Caitlyn Jenner" in the Hall of Fame records...

Then that would mean she was a woman competing in the men's division, right?

I don't agree with this either. You shouldn't be able to rewrite history like that. Should his birth certificate be revised to say female? I'm very much in support of her choosing her own identity, but believe the records should reflect whatever was the reality at that point in time. It would get too confusing otherwise!

Welcome to the world of Political correctness.

Dont get me wrong, I am cool with her living her truth, but as poster said you cant rewrite history.

How on Earth could changing a name on a piece of paper go back in time and change the gender of the person who competed all those years ago?

All it would mean is that a man, who later became a woman with a different name, competed in the men's division, and the IOC changed the original name to reflect her current one.

ETA: Personally, I think they should not change the name, since it was Bruce who won. However, I also know that simply changing the name in no way changes the fact that a male won.

I think that the things that happened while she was Bruce should be left as is. During her Olympic career she was not Caitlyn, she was Bruce.

I can empathize about how weird it must be to not feel "right" in your body/gender identification. I do feel sorry for her earlier families though. All this talk of living a lie and such must make them feel badly. If I was her kid and she was talking all the time about how terrible her life was pre-change, part of me would be thinking "Geez I was part of that life. Was I so bad?"

Frankly it's no skin off my nose whether she's a man, a woman or neither for that matter. I thought the Diane Sawyer interview was well done and helpful in understanding the whole process.

This Vanity Fair cover....not so much. Too "Kardashian look at me how much money can I make selling myself?" for my taste. Most of the transgendered people I have known (male to female) aren't defining their femaleness with bustiers and evening gowns. They're just normal people doing their thing.

She would have done better posing as the world class athlete that she is or in nice business attire instead of the stereotypical celebrity bimbo in a bustier.

Women are so much more than 2 breasts in scanty attire.
