I'm a bit surprised she opted for the C-spelling of Caitlyn ;-) So close to another family K name . . .

Regardless, I have reached a peak with my Kardashian fatigue, so aside from wishing her well, I can't muster any further interest.

I really, really, really doubt that someone who believed they were a man would go to the trouble of getting breast implants for publicity. There are a LOT easier ways to get publicity than that (as that entire family has proven over and over and over).

You can honestly want/need all the surgery to make your outside match your inside and still be addicted to publicity. They don't cancel each other out.

For decades, there was something off about Bruce Jenner and this news was no surprise. It's a pity it didn't come sooner, but I'm sure making that decision and telling everyone isn't easy when you're an average person, let alone when you're famous.

That said, a LOT of work went into that photo shoot. It's a fantasy shot and I'm afraid it may bring more trouble than it was worth.

True, but Bruce's change to Caitlyn can be done in such a way that it's not on primetime specials and magazine covers, while raking in millions of dollars for it. Regardless, it takes a lot of bravery either way. Caitlyn looks good!

I can't imagine that a man who was already very rich and very famous would have his genitals surgically removed, get breast implants, change his name and live as a woman....just for more money and more fame?

Good heavens, he's already got more money than anyone could ever spend. And he spent most of his adult life as a major celebrity because of what he did at the Olympics.

No, he didn't do it for money. Or fame.

I think the "removal" hasn't happened yet...was pretty clear about that it in an interview.

While I can understand that it must have been very difficult to deny the person he felt he truly was for his whole life, I also feel it's not insignificant that he made choices that deeply affected his spouses and/or their relationships. Three marriages, with children of all three relationships? I think it's fair to say that his wives deserved better from him. I also feel that it must be wrenching for his children to want their parent to find true happiness, yet on some level feel that their father has died and they're expected to simply embrace this new woman with joy and happiness.

As much compassion and understanding he feels he deserves for his suffering, I think his families have suffered a great deal without having any idea why or any control over it.

That's why I said the two weren't mutually exclusive. You can change genders for the most legitimate of reasons and still be eager to make every penny you can/get every ounce of publicity possible from the process.

Bruce probably didn't change his gender for money or fame but he certainly set it up to get all Caitlyn can out of it.
A huge dislike about the Kardashians is how everything they do is orchestrated to keep them in the media. I think many people thought Bruce was above that. He was part of the Kardashian but just went along for the ride and it was really Kris and the girls behind it all.
The way this is all going down is exactly what you'd expect from the Kardashians and it's a little disappointing to see Bruce wasn't really much different from Kris when it comes to media attention.

Also, people with money and fame often do all kinds of things to stay in the spotlight.
