next year we are going to stay in a cabin at the fort we have stayed at the fort many times and love it but the camper is sadly not an option next year so i want to know if you still get the fort feel in a cabin i would also love to hear of your experience in a cabin if youve stayed in one all posts are very appreciated thanks:thumbsup2

Jan will be our 8th time staying in a cabin, we would not stay any place else. It will be just like staying in a RV but you will have full size everything and mousekeepers. A lot of people hang out on their decks and talk to the people walking by. We were even invited by some to join their cookout. If you are using the buses (which are great) you have both the purple and the orange buses that go past the cabin loops about every 10 minuets. Very easy to get to the Settlement or the Meadows.
Have a great time and let us know how you feel about the how you would compare the two experiences.

thanks for the info also are the cabins more out of the way from other things the main thing being places to fish i am a huge fisherman which is why i love stayin at the fort so much

We are staying an a cabin the last week of September on the AP discount. We normally take our fifth wheel, but when Disney runs room only discounts and gas prices creep up the cabins become more of an option financially. They are by no means cheaper than bringing the camper, but the price gap is much narrower. There are a number of things we like about the cabins.

We save a bunch of money on gas and our travel time is 2-3 hours less than with the RV. Setup is minimized, and if some part of our housing infrastructure breaks I don't have to fix it. The cabins have a dishwasher, and it isn't me. There is a full sized tub, which is a benefit to our children. The back bedroom is fairly well isolated from the living room, so noise is not so much of an issue when the kids are napping. In that regards, the cabins feel much more spacious than the RV. We feel that the "Fort Experience" proliferates the campground, and we have never felt like we were cheated in that regards because we were in a cabin.

There are some negatives. We will save money on gas, but our more fuel efficient vehicle has limited space. We prefer to eat meals in the cabin, so we will need to shop the day we arrive. This is not a problem if we bring the RV pre-loaded with groceries. Actually, there are a few things we won't be able to bring in the car that we would like to have. We will certainly have to operate within limits that we are not used to. In the RV I have everything I need and I know exactly where it is. When we arrive at the cabins in September, we will have forgotten something, and it will be particularly annoying because it will probably be at home in the RV.

A couple years ago we had reservations at the Polynesian, when our friends decided to go at the same time as us. They could only get the cabins at Ft. Wilderness, so I begrudgling switched our reservation to the cabins. I LOVED IT. I never thought I would like the cabins or Ft. Wilderness, but I LOVED them both! The space, the kitchen (which again I swore I would not need or want while on vacation), the atmosphere. It was so nice to go back to the cabin and the Fort after being at the parks. And to find made beds, clean dishes, fresh towels, lots of space and peace and quiet!!

You definitely get the feeling of the Fort in the cabins...last summer we stayed at the Fort in a rented RV and had the same Fort experience.

Can not wait to go back next summer and stay in a cabin and enjoy all the Fort has to offer.

Have a great time!

Since u have camped at tbe fort in the past, I think gou will like cabins. Open the doors and let the fresh air in. go to tbe campfire or watch the fireworks on the beach.

In my experiece the people who dont like the fort are the theme park kamikaze types. (not that there is anytjing wrong with that). If u are on vacation to relax and enjoy yourself then the fort is a good choice. If u r going to a park every day then it doesnt matter where u stay.

We also plan to go back to the cabins for 4 weeks in January/February for our 4th time. Before that we stayed in our pop up camper for 5 years.

The cabins give us everything that we like about the Fort. They also give us a full kitchen and bath, sleeping for six and a great deck. We will never stay anywhere else.

thanks for the info everyone and bama ed we are definatly not the kamakazie type hahaha weve been so many times tht we just take it easy and enjoy

we are renting a camper at the Fort for Christmas for two weeks. It is alot cheaper than a cabin. With site and camper and golf cart rental I am only paying 2000.00. Can you rent a camper. Ours if a fifth wheel. He delivers set it up and break it down and we saving big money.
