This is a bizarre question, I know but i am planning my door decor and was wondering if anyone knew the width of a typical cabin door- we are in 8532 if that helps....not leaving for a while - lol- this is just going to take some time. Thanks!

From the FAQ sticky:
Door Demensions- 27" wide, 6 1/2' high, 3" deep

Whilst it is your door and dcl allow you to "decorate" it, in the spirit of the considerate cruiser thread, please be mindful of the pax opposite you that will open their door to looking onto your door when they leave they cabin.
Hallways are shared communal spaces so everyone needs to appreciate everyone else's tastes and opinions when decorating there door, because you most likely would be opposite someone else who has a different taste or someone who likes the ships decor more than the decals.

Just thinking of EVERYONE in my opinion so those that chose to and those that chose not to, and those that dislike are included!

i didn't think this was an issue, maybe i should take up a survey to see how i should decorate my door for everyones tastes- not- i have never even heard of this before, I'm not changing what i want to do based on if someone in my hallway may not like my style- its 7 days to walk past it, sorry if the mickey may offend, but its a disney cruise after all....and thats what i like and my taste

Just decorate the door however you want. It's your door and your vacation. You wI'll always found someone that will not like something that you do. But, so what? It's your door. I mean I'm sure many others will be more over the top.

I can't say whether you should decorate your door or not, but I always enjoy walking by decorated doors whether they are in my taste or not. It always makes me smile because I always think someone is having just that more special of a voyage. One of the reasons I like Disney vacations is my hypercritical/reflective nature somehow takes a walk and I just enjoy things. We just got back from GCH at DLR and a leak sprung on the ceiling and came into our bathroom. It took almost a full day to get the leak stopped and housekeeping placed a loud fan to dry out the floor. That night, we were just happy to have the loudest white noise machine in the hotel. In the interest of full disclosure, I also don't remember whether anyone was wearing shorts in the MDRs on any of my cruises. So, if you're only worried about my opinion, I'd decorate the Mickey out of that door.

It's a vacation, you're supposed to have fun and enjoy it. Have fun decorating your door and enjoy your cruise!

Wow, stressing about the person across from you on the cruise decorating their door: I'm pretty sure that's the definition of first world problems.

I've seen plenty of seriously tacky stateroom doors... It hasn't ruined a cruise for me yet.

I love seeing the decorated doors, and it makes for good landmarks in the corridors, as in, there's that door with the really elaborate FE pockets, so I'm getting close to my room! Personally, I can't be bothered to do it (since I'm not traveling with kids), but I admire the folks that have the time and energy for that stuff, and I like to see what they come up with. I never saw anything that was in bad taste.

Wow! Harsh crowd!
All I said was be mindful and thoughtful of how others may like your decorations not as much as you do.
Maybe some of you decorate your doors like these? Or would be happy if that was next door or across from you? I guess some of you wouldn't mind at all either.

And who is stressing about the person across from them?
That is a leap of thought and presumption! And saying things like "first world problem" is a very passive aggressive way of telling someone to be quiet, i disagree with you BTW. You might not agree with me, but please be polite as I am with you.
I just said we should be aware of others and not put our own stamp on what are communal areas, and shared.

Respectfully you rented the space inside the door. Not the space outside.
Do as you wish and as I said above was Whilst it is your door and dcl allow you to "decorate" it, in the spirit of the considerate cruiser thread, please be mindful of the pax opposite you that will open their door to looking onto your door when they leave they cabin.

Was that really so bad or offensive to you? Considering other pax around you?

this is so baiting that someone "may" find my mickey mouse ears offensive enough that it may ruin their cruise? seriously, do you not have anything else to gripe about then that? if being in a public area that people may or may not decorate DOORS, not in your own taste is something that you may loose sleep over or even waste time telling someone else to think about how they want to decorate their door then you really need to get a life and maybe stay in a remote cabin somewhere where the public won't wear an offensive tee shirt or pair of shoes in your presence.... really hope ppl like you aren't on my cruise- this is my last word on this subject. I will decorate however i want- within a mickey mouse christmas time cruise - since its disney and thats what i want to do

I won't warrant your reply with anything other than have a great vacation.

Hey guys ~

There's no reason to get ugly with each other over cabin door decorations. My guess is that folks who decorate their stateroom doors are going to do it for the fun and not to offend other cruisers.

My recommendation is that if you don't like something on the door across from yours, close your eyes as you walk by! :D

@WebmasterJackie, that is your recommendation and opinion.
Mine is you should be thoughtful and respectful to your fellow cruisers, and how your desire to decorate may have an affect on others.
After all, we rented a room with a disney decorated hallway resembling this

And just telling people to close your eyes because YOU like it or do not mind it is not considerate of others opinions and quite centered around what you appreciate, so telling others if you don't like it look away, without thought for anyone else is a very self indulgent point of view in my opinion.
