Cabana versus RP

Going this upcoming weekend - currently have reservations at Cabana Bay, RP AND HRH. Trying to decide which one to keep.

Not a newbie - AP holder, but have always stayed at RP, with one exception at SF. RP is my spot ;-) But hubby and I are taking daughter, son in law and 2 grands. We thought Cabana might be fun after days in park (short weekend, though. Friday - Monday).

If we stay at CB, I will keep my Saturday at RP no matter what for express, but I've been reading and just now realized Cabana isn't really all that walkable to parks like RP. That's kind of freaking me out. I love the walk from RP to the parks, and the small security check point.

The thought of doing buses to and from the parks - and having to go through a much more crowded security entrance, etc. - sounds like a lot of headache. But so many folks love CB and I thought the kids would like the lazy river after dinner, and I've heard food options are great.

Having said ALL that...(ha) - we've also NEVER stayed at HRH (like I said, I'm usually an RP girl, although I did stay at Sapphire last year - won't do that again). Anyway, since we've never stayed at HRH, there's a part of me that wants to try it, and I know it, like RP, it's a fairly easy walk, even with grands.

My concern about HRH is...we hated Sapphire Falls. Like. Not our vibe at all. So, is HRH more like SF or RP in terms of resort feel?

And/or, is CB really worth it for kids (am I missing something that makes it so much better and worth taking a bus?)

Thanks!

The cheaper price makes it worth taking the bus! There is a walking path from CB but it’s 15-20 minutes. I’ve stayed at all those places and yes it is very nice to have the boats and less crowded security but honestly the bus is not bad at all. In fact I found it quicker some nights when we were there last month staying at SF the wait for the boat in the evening was long.
I like the food court options at CB a lot. we decided we would not stay at SF again because of the lack of food choices. Favorite deluxe is RP and Portofino don’t care for HRH that much even though it’s the shortest walk. The pool at CB is great but I think only one pool is open-check the CB thread for latest info. The suites at CB are very roomy and having the little kitchenette is nice.

Any particular reason?

And thanks for your insights!
Not really just didn’t love the feel of it which is odd because I still consider myself a hard rock loving gal lol. I don’t think it’s similar to either SF or RP- I think those two are more like each other but I didn’t care for SF because of the limited food choices. If you love RP I say stick with that you can always walk thru HRH to get a feel for it. But I also love CB and for sure your grandkids will too. It has a very fun retro vibe. I usually do a split stay CB and either RP or PB just my personal preference.

Cabana Bay’s commute isn’t that bad. You can always walk to Sapphire Falls and take the water taxi. But the buses are easy and fast. The walk through CityWalk is a bit tedious but they have moving sidewalks so that’s nice. I’m not really sure what I’d pick though. I think CB is a lot of fun but the kids wont know what they are missing. The weather doesn’t look great for the pool. Anyone can go to CB to bowl, if that was of interest.

Like the PPsaid, the kids won’t know what they are missing. We have stayed at all the hotels (except Aventura) and from your post you should stay at RP. CB is amazing “for the value”. Since you are paying for at least one night at RP I would go ahead and just stay there.

CB is a great value, but it is definitely a value, as in no luggage service, no frills.
The bus ride is very quick especially compared to Disney, but it is NOT like taking the boat, you have to use the security at City Walk.

May I ask what you hated about SF? Have not been yet but it's on my list!

The path is pretty nice and safe. 20 minutes if you are a brisk walker.

I’m of no help for your question as only have stayed at HR or RP

CB is our favorite hotel. The suites are great for our family of 5, and the dining is good. We love walking to volcano bay (which is a pain to get to from anywhere else), and the bus is easy. We like to do a CB/HRH split for a couple days of express pass. We like HRH, too. It has a nice pool and really easy walk to parks. The room is a little more squished, though. Never stayed at RP.
