Cab fare from John Wayne Airport to Disneyland?

I am flying into John Wayne Airport on Memorial Day, and will be arriving in the early evening. My Hotel, Dolphin's Cove is not a regular stop on the Disney Express Bus route. I have looked into Super Shuttle, but they don't seem to service this hotel either. This hotel is a Wyndham Hotel.

I figure, a cab might be a better option. I am wondering how one goes about getting a flat rate? I have heard this suggested by others. Do you just get in the cab and ask the driver for the flat rate, rather than the meter? Has anyone done this recently, and how much was it?

I am sure that I could find a cheaper way to get to my hotel, however sometimes convenience is more important to a person traveling alone.

It was $45 with tip when we were there two weeks ago. That was from the PPH.

For my family (three of us) it was in the $45-55 range with tip. Last year we took the Disney shuttle, and it was fine, but if you are not staying on Disney property it's kind of a drag. The taxi is much faster and though a little more expensive, I feel it was much more convenient.

I was hoping it was a bit cheaper than that. It is only me, and dropping almost a $100 dollars on cab fare. from, and back to the airport, well.....I will definitely have to think about this one a wee bit longer.

At the end of our trip we took a cab from DLH to SNA (John Wayne) and it was a flat fare of $35 for a regular sized taxi. The bellman at the hotel told us when we asked and it was posted inside the cab.

That was a little over a week ago.

I wonder if the larger mini-van cabs can charge more since they hold more people and luggage?

I have been offered a ride from the airport by a person who lives nearby to John Wayne Airport. I know this person, only by posting with him on another Disney website, for a very long time.

I have another new question. Exactly where is it that one waits when someone is picking them up at the airport. I googled the airport map, and it is a bit confusing.

I appreciate the help.

I just checked on super shuttle, and they have Dolphin's Cove listed. Do the fare quote, choose the airport and choose hotel, then on the next page type in DOL and then Search. Comes up for me. $10 per adult.

After you pick up your luggage, just head out the doors and wait at the curb. I usually text or call my friend and tell her where I am and she drives by, stops at the curb and picks me up. Hope that helps a little.

I am familiar with the airport. I always try and use that airport when I am traveling for a vacation at Disneyland. It is a slightly higher airfare from Chicago, but it is so much easier than LAX.

Yes, my friend said that I should call him when the plane lands. I am sure that by the time I disembark from the plane, and use the restroom, and make my way outside, he should be driving by.

You have explained it perfectly. Thanks for the speedy reply.

I am one of those people who likes to have all her ducks in a row, so to speak.

Didn't see the new question. Sorry!

Actually when I originally planned this trip, I googled Super Shuttle, and it did come up. However, on recent searches it did not appear.

However, now it seems I won't have to do that. I am very appreciative of your help and your reply.

We have taken a taxi from John Wayne to the Tropicana Inn and suites across from Disneyland the last two trips and each time we paid no more then $45 and that was with tip. I find this a convenient way of traveling from the airport to hotel and vice versa when you have multiple people traveling with you. You take the Disneyland Express or Super Shuttle and your paying $10 a persona anyway. But with a cab you go straight to your destination with no stops along the way to drop off others. :thumbsup2 You can call up Yellow Cab like I did to see about flat rates, but I found after that once you arrive at the airport, and you go out to the shuttle taxi area, you will see all the cabs lined up, and the drivers standing around waiting for you. You can ask them then what their flat rate would be. The majority say $40.

I am planning on taking a cab back to the airport when my vacation is over. It's just a whole lot less hassle. Does the flat rate apply going back to the airport as well, and is one cab company better than all the rest?

Yep. Sure does!!! For my upcoming family trip we plan to take a cab round trip from and back to the airport from the hotel, and I've already made arrangements with my parents I will pay there if they pay on the way back. Just cause we have always had the same rate both ways. Some cab drivers even give you their card and tell you to call them on the day you leave. That way you get the same rate.

I wouldnt worry if you only needed to go one way. The rate should be the same as if you were coming. If not, your paying too much.
