C25K! Anyone else in?

 stupid computer.

I had a huge post full of quotes and responses, and my computer crashed.

Oh, well. Thank you to those of you nearing the end or at the end of the program for your inspiration. To those of you in the middle, keep up the good work. And for those of us just starting out, good luck!

I did w2d1 this morning. I was a tad concerned, as my ankles really bothered me yesterday. I went to yoga last night and took some advil, and I have had no problems today.

I'm trying to get on a schedule of c25k on MWF, yoga on Su/Tu, and I want to throw some strength in 1 or 2 days also. Any Wii recommendations? I have Wii Fit Plus, but wondering if anyone has a different game that they really like.

EA Sports Active is good too.

I haven't posted in a really long time but wanted to chime in and let you know that yesterday I finished w3. I am so excited to start w4 tomorrow! I had to go out and buy new sneakers and boy, what a difference it makes. I was starting to get shin splints and my feet really hurt, but not anymore. I just want to remind all the stubborn people out there like me, when you feel like you’re running shoes are done, buy new ones!

Also, congrats to everyone who is sticking with the program, every little bit counts!

So, I'm pretty much considering myself graduated at this point. I'm technically still on the last week (run 30 minutes), but as of Friday, I ran the entire 5K distance. Of course, that meant I was running 46 minutes, not 30!

I think my plan will be to continue to run 30 minutes 3-4 times per week with one day of running 3 miles per week. I have the WISH St. Patrick's Day 5K coming up next weekend and I have an official 5K that I'm going to do on April 11th. After that, I'd like to start preparing to run the 1/2 marathon at Disneyland in September. Most plans for a 1/2 marathon seem to start with a base of 3 miles and run for 12 weeks. That means I should start prepping for the 1/2 on the second weekend of June. That gives me two months between the April 5K and the beginning of the training in June when I'm not sure what to do other than keep running for 30 minutes or 3 miles. Any suggestions?

Funny you mention the time vs. distance. I just finished W7D1 (yes I run to my laptop right after a shower), and no problem running the 25 minutes. But according to the C25K website, W7D1 should be 25 minutes OR 2.5 miles. I'll do the math for you...that's a 10 minute mile. At the end of the program W9 is 30 minutes/3 miles. I'm running 13 minute miles.

This program is training us to complete a 5K, so it is distance oriented, not time. So unless I shave my time from 13 min/miles to 10 min/miles, I need to be able to run 39 minutes.

I just finished W7D1 today as well! I am running about 5.2mph on a treadmill, so I will not finish a full 5K when I finish the C25K program. But, I am sticking with their times (not the distance) and then giving myself another few weeks to lengthen my time until I reach 5K. I decided that for me, baby steps are better than pushing myself too much and getting injured. If it takes a few extra weeks, that's okay!

WARNING! People who have the app for c25k watch which day you pick or be stupid like me and put in w2d2 instead of w1d2. No wonder I thought I was going to not make it. lol Well lets just say next time will be a lot easier and I can do week 2. :)

Sorry I have been MIA here but the new job is throwing a wrench in my DISing. I am starting my final week W9D1 tomorrow. I am now where near a 5k in 30min. What do you do when you are technically done with the program. Just keep going until you can do the 3.1miles?? regaurdless of the time. That is my plan but I didnt know if anyone knew what you were supposed to do. Keep up all the hard work everyone. It is so exciting that I am finishing this week and getting my new shoes!! Whoot :woohoo:

I did W5D1 today and I can't believe how easy it was. I REALLY struggled last week, so I was worried about the three 5 minute runs, but I did it and probably could have done another set. No idea why, but I wonder if it is because of the longer walking period. Last week, I just caught my breath in that 90 second walk before I had to run again and it was tough to start again. Today was a longer walking period so it made starting to run easier. Maybe that means that I'll be able to make the 20 minutes without TOO much stress since there isn't a lot of stopping and starting.

Who knows. :)

That's my plan as well. I have a couple of months between the end of the program and my first 5K. So I hope to go from 39 minutes to closer to 30 by the time of the race.

That's what I did when I finished the program last year. Once I could do the 30 mins I switched to distance. I finally ran the whole 3.1 the week before my race. I didn't really get any faster. My first 5K time was 38.28, but I ran the whole time!

Great job everyone! Hope you're all doing well.

I finished W7D1 yesterday. Easier than W6D3, but I do take about 10-15 seconds about 4 times to wipe away sweat and get a drink but I hit 24 minutes and I told myself I was going to run this 6 minutes straight through. The covering up the time with a rag is a great idea, I did this yesterday and it was over much fast than it would've been normally! And I did run the 6 minutes through, there were points where I wanted to stop for a few seconds but I kept going!

I'm only getting about 2 miles in 25 minutes, but once I get to the 5k, I'll work on my speed. I'm actually thinking if I can keep this up I might even join track next year for long distance! That's amazing because I used to never be good at sports, and I think this is something I can actually do since it's only about 2 miles each meet if I'm correct. And if I work on my speed I could finish it in 20 minutes!

Hope you all have a wonderful day, keep up the good work!

I ran more than 20 minutes last night (1.5 miles) and wasn't even planning on it! Instead of starting Week Five again, I just started running to see how far I could go. I aimed for 1/4 of a mile, which turned into 1/2, then 3/4 , etc.

The next thing I knew I had ran for 23 minutes straight and a mile and a half!!!!!!

I am still very slow, but I am so glad I was able to do that long run. I had been dreading it and honestly didn't think I was going to be able to do it! Now that I know I can do it I can't wait to do it again and try to improve my speed. And now I know I am ready to move on to Week Six!

I have a 10K coming up at the end of this month, and now I have hope I will be able to run a good bit of it...my goal is to run half of it.

W9D1 done!! How exciting. I ran a different route today and it made the time go by faster. 2 days left til I officially graduate C25K

WOW!!! That's great!

Okay, so I did w5d3 today. The dreaded 20 minute run. I DID IT!!! I am sooo sore and tired, but I did it. The last 2 minutes were very, very hard. But I am so proud of myself!

I am such a turtle, but a lady actually said to me "if I did that, I would die", and I did pass her while she was walking, so I am proud of that! :cool1:

Way to go! It's sometimes hard not to stop, but when you don't it feels awesome!

Hello c25k'ers!

Today I have W1D2. My thighs are SORE, when I get up and down they burn, and the muscles around my ankles are sore. Should I still do the program? I am thinking go ahead and do it and if it hurts too much just walk, but I don't want to hurt myself and end up not able to do anything.

What do you think?

I usually run every other day even if I am sore. If it hurts to much just walk. I feel aches and pains all the time since I have never run before. Nothing has really been hurt though. If it feels like a pull stop is what I would say. Good luck
