I will be making my 11 month BWV reservations soon. I will be choosing a 2 bd, I am very confused as to request a standard or preferred view. I would definatlely like to be able to see fireworks, as we have liitle ones who may not make it that late. Anyone have any suggestions thanks
Tara

The best chance of getting a room that will see the higher level fireworks from Illuminations will occur if you manage to reserve a Preferred view - Boardwalk view. You'll need to call day by day when MS first opens to be sure of getting the Boardwalk view for your entire stay. (There aren't a lot of 2 bedroom units that have a Boardwalk view, but if you get one, you will be able to see the fireworks and the room category - Boardwalk view, is now guaranteed).

Your other choice is to request a standard view (less points) and you will have to call day by day to get that, too. However, not all of the standard view rooms have a view of the fireworks. You'll need to request an upper floor room that is across from the bus stop and hope that you get it. Quite a few of the standard view rooms overlook the entrance driveway and the fireworks view form those rooms is blocked by the BWI and the convention center.

Most of the rooms that have a fireworks view are not close to the elevators, so keep that in mind. There are several stairways scattered throughout the resort, but sometimes those with little ones along cannot use them (strollers). For some, the extra walking to the elevators (and IMHO, it isn't all that bad) is worth the fireworks view.

Good luck!

You may want to know that the BW is pretty noisy. Had I realized how noisy it was going to be, I think I would have avoided it with my little ones. And although you can see fireworks, they are obstructed by the Inn even from the BW, and you only see the high ones. My kids were asleep by the time they ran (the first fireworks from Illuninations start at around 9:05 - and they are very loud - and end around 9:20.)

I think I'd save points and go SV (planning to do that next trip) or that I'd rather look at a pool and leave the BW View for someone who thinks its spectacular (which quite a few people do, I just really didn't).

The fireworks are good from the Beach Club boat dock. Its a little stroll over that way, but the angle is a lot better. Or from the bridge to the Swan/Dolphin.

We just returned from the BWV and had a standard view. Personally, I would never use extra points for preferred view as our view was fine. As for fireworks, we put the little ones in a stroller and walked up to the bridge near Epcot for a fine view. We also saw the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom one night when they began at 8:30. We stood right near the BW boat dock and looked over the YC for a good view.

Live the Magic!!!

We recently returned from a BWV stay in September and I was extremely happy with the view we had. We stayed in Room 5007 & 5009 and enjoyed it very much. We had a wonderful time sitting on the balcony listening and watching the arials in illuminations to our right while also seeing MK fireworks to our left. Since this was an adults only weekend for us the blender (available upon request) added to the enjoyment all that was missing was the little paper umbrellas!!

Also In agreement with an early post, you may want to keep in mind the distance to the elevator was a hike but heck it's worth the walk. I would love to stay in the same room again.. real nice!!

Enjoy your Stay !!

We were in a 2 bedroom for the millenium and had the best room ever. We were in 4003 and 4005. It was the best room I have ever gotten although it was far from the elevators. That doesn't make a difference to us. The kids love beating us to the elevators. You can always walk up the back steps, too.
2 years ago, we were in a 1 bedroom that overlooked the entrance, non-preferred view, 4021. That too, gave us a view of Illuminations.
I have never been in a BW view that had noise. On our recent stay, we were in 5001 and there was NO noise. Our friends were in 2001 and they had no noise either. It is so much fun to people watch.
Our only complaint with 5001 was the birds. They made a daily deposit. Our room did not have an awning. When we called, there was nothing they could do. that bummed me out as we had to clean bird s....

Me neither and we have stayed in BW view villas many times in various locations. Now if you want to see/hear a noisy room get a BCV that overlooks the road. Now that is a noisy villa!!!

I have stayed twice in a BW view studio, 5013 and the second floor right over one of the entrances to the store. Had fireworks view from both, but the 5013 was definately much better.

We were not bothered by BW "noise" at all either stay.

On the other hand, I stayed in a 3rd floor, center court, main pool view studio once and found the noise from the pool at 10pm very annoying.

I was just there last week and looked over the standard view rooms from the entrance - I would rather take a chance on a BW view than end up in one of the rooms overlooking the valet parking or one of the ground floor standards. Maybe someone who has stayed in one of them can say if it's as yukky as it looked. Maybe it's not so bad.

I stayed in 1 of the villas overlooking the valet parking once and that was enough for me. However some people like these rooms very much because they like sitting on the balcony and watching all the comings and goings. When I have a standard view villa booked I always request a room as far from the elevators as I can get. These villas do require a 4-5 min walk if you take the elevator but they also have a view of the waterway to MGM, the Friendship boats, TOT, Fantasmic fireworks, Illumination fireworks and all types of birds, ducks etc. Also these rooms are very secluded and quiet. Since many people have a walking phobia at WDW for walks longer than 2 seconds, many times these rooms are very easy to get because everyone requests to be close to the elevator.
I do not care for ground floor rooms at any hotel and I always avoid them if possible, so I can't comment on those rooms.

We were in a standard view studio last weekend. It was room 4099 and it looked at the valet area and the Inn. I loved this room! We could see almost all the fireworks and I did enjoy watching all the activity of people coming and going. I would definately stay standard view again.

That said, I just booked a BW view for next Sept (we haven't stayed in one yet).

I would have to agree with this single annoyance with our stay in 5007 & 5009... I suppose the birds loved the view as well!!!

And by the way.. No discernable noise to speak of..

I will absolutely look for this class of accommodation again sometime.
