Hi Everyone -

I am so excited...I just booked our first family trip to BWV. My DH bought into Boardwalk before we had met so this will be my first trip "Home" since all our previous DVC points trips had been using the concierge collection to places we could easily drive to since we met/planned our wedding/started our family, ect...

Anyway, I have a couple of questions I hope you can all help with. We booked a 2 bedroom Boardwalk View for our Sept trip. It will be myself, DH, DD who will be almost 3 and DS who will be 16 months at the time of my trip. Originally I was thinking that a 2 bedroom would be good with the kids so they could have their own room for naps and at bedtime, while DH and I could still use the kitchen/main area without disturbing them. Well, I have just figured out that a 2 bedroom is actually a 1 bedroom with a studio room attached. Should I now be concerned? Is there anyway of permantly locking the door to the outside hall so my 2 yr old can't just wander out the hall in the middle of the night. How about the adjoining door, could she close and lock herself in the room? Also, does the door to the balcony have any kind of child proof locks. She is just learning how to open doors, so can you tell I am nervous... :)

Also, I am hoping for a view of Illuminations from our balcony. Is there anything I should ask for to better our chances of this?

OK...one last question... Should I be worried about the noise from the boardwalk keeping the children awake?

TIA for all your recomendations!!!!

No, not that I know of. However, there is a "safety latch" at adult eye level that you can use. Unless your two year old cold drag a chair to the door and undo that, I don't think she could get out. If it were me, I'd leave (block) the connecting doors open and leave the master bedroom door open so that she could more easily wander towards you if she woke up at night. You might also consider bringing a night light and make the way towards you easier to see than the one towards the "dark" door.

Well, maybe - it's been a while since I had a 2 year old. There will actually be 2 doors making up the "connection". Each will have a deadbolt type latch that can be locked - one from the living room area and the other from the studio. Again, I'd probably block those open at night were I in your position. I don't recall any childproff locks for the balcony doors - maybe someone else has info/ideas on that.

Just ask for an upper floor. Pretty much all of the 2 bedrooms overlooking the Boardwalk have a good view of IllumiNations from the balcony. The best views are a long trek from the elevators though. IMHO, there isn't a significant difference in view, so my advice is not to ask for those. With 2 young ones traveling in strollers, you'll probably want to be close to the elevators.

No - as long as the balcony doors are closed, you should be fine. I'm assuming that they aren't used to zero noise at home. I'm a light sleeper and didn't find it bothersome. You will hear some of the fireworks "booms" from your room though - even if the doors are closed.

Have fun!
