If you were booking a board walk standard villa - one bedroom- what would you request in your reservation?
for Best view? near or far from elevators? any other recommendations?

The standard view rooms start at the valet entrance, go down the driveway and around the pond (across from tennis courts). The ones farther away from the entrance probably have a better view, but they are farther from the elevator. We were in a 1 bedroom on the corner above the pond and fountain last December, it was a nice view, we could partially see the Epcot fireworks (a tree was blocking part of the view) but it was a long way down the hall (2 corridors). The ones around the corner would have a view of MGM but are the farthest from the elevator. First floor rooms have an exit on the end near the parking lot. I had requested to be near the tennis courts because I didn't want to be close to the entrance with cars coming in and out, but the walk to the room got to be a pain. I really don't think it matters much, this year I just requested fireworks view and we'll see what we get.

We've been down that hall a few times and this is what we like...

Non-smoking
3rd floor (not so high that you can't do the stairs, not so low that you can't see the fireworks)
Not close to elevators - but closer to the other end (again - this gives a better view of the fireworks and also gets you closer to the MGM path and bus stop if you take the stairs)

If you do not plan to ever take the stairs, but want to get to the elevators quickly - and the view of the fireworks from Epcot is not important to you - then request "near the elevator"....and chances are, you'll be down at the opposite end anyway ;).

Im just back from bwv , one bedroom, stayed in room 4051 and the view was AWESOME! Got to see jugglers on the boardwalk, watched the boats in the a.m whilst sipping on my dunkin donuts coffee, and just plain enjoying the view:) Wish I could get that room every time...it was 4th floor and not too far from the elevators...right up my alley :) Im almost hesitant to disclose this, LOL for fear that Ill never get that room again,,,,,have fun wherever you stay....Mae

ps No there is no dunkin donuts at the bwv,,,brought my own :)

Mae - the view from your room does sound "AWESOME", but if you could see the Boardwalk jugglers and the boats, you must have had a preferred view room.

For standard view, we like to request upper floor and near the pond/tennis courts (for the best glimpse of Epcot's fireworks).

IMHO, DebbieB and Lora explained the pros and cons of the various standard view locations very well.

Whenever I have a standard view room I also request a room close to the tennis courts. Not only can you see the Epcot fireworks but you can see the fireworks at the end of Fantasmic, you can hear the whole Fantasmic show, you can sit on your balcony and watch the friendship boats traveling to MGM,you see TOT and assorted ducks, rabbits and birds outside your room. These villas are a hike from the elevator but are very close to the stairs and with all the walking we do at WDW anyway the walk from the elevators is no big deal to us. We always kid around and say the long hallways remind us of the movie the Shining. LOL! :D

Last year we had a standard view 1 bdrm on the 1st flr (which might not be for everyone) it was facing the drive up to the BWV drop your car valet area. We loved it, Donald and Daisy Duck visited us every day for bread crumbs, as did Thumper, right across the hall was an exit to the quiet pool (the end by MGM) so going to the pool was great and getting to our room never seemed like a huge hike.
