We have recently moved our ressie for Dec 29 - Jan 2 from SSR to BWV. The waitlist is a wonderful thing. Hopefuly BWV will still have Xmas decorations and still be festive.

We are a little concerned about the weather in Orlando at that time of year as the kids are mad on swimming, so I am hoping that this will be possible. Any comments please would be helpful.

Also DW was wondering what special events will be at WDW and at the Boardwalk for New Years Eve and Day. Is there anything specific that is recommended to not be missed

I have been warned NOT to visit the parks on New Years Eve as they are VERY VERY busy. Is this true?

Thank you for all your comments and help.

We were at the BCV last New Year's and the BWV the year before for the same period you are there this year. The parks are very crowded but we went at the opening of EPCOT in the morning and timed it so that we got fast passes to Mission Space for mid-night last year. To give you an idea of the crowds, we got mid-night FP at close to 10:30 A.M. Everything is sold out very early.

At the BWV's they hand out hats and noisemakers and there is lots of activity on the Boardwalk but nothing really special.

We have four kids who love to swim and they were able to swim on most days of our trip last year. The year before we made a point of getting a picture of them in the pool on New Year's day with the date stamp of January 1. None of us had ever swam on January 1 before. The next day we were wearing sweatshirts, it got so cold.

The decorations are all up and it is a beautiful time to be at WDW. You will start seeing them slowly removed on January 1.

If you don't like crowds and/or you really want to go on the rides, NYE itself is wild. However, it can also be a lot of fun with a party atmosphere. The parks also hand out hats and noisemakers during the evening. At midnight there are spectacular fireworks.

Some of the restaurants have special high ticket parties, PI also holds an event with special entertainment (and a special ticket).

Swimming and weather are a real wild card -- Could be 80, could be in the 20's at night and 40's during the day -- could be all of the above during the length of your trip. The pools are heated but it's your tolerance of the air temps that can do you in.

You will see most if not all of the holiday decorations. (They sometimes take down a few as NYE approaches -- but it's so minor you hardly notice.)

I spoke with MS yesterday, since our DS is only 16. They advised that most of the clubs around BW as well as PI limit access to 21years and older for NYE due to the free flowing champagne at midnight. I was told that there will be performers and other events (they do not have a schedule of events as of yet) that will happen out on the BW leading up to midnight (for those not wanting to brave the crowds at the parks), and that you should be able to see fireworks from the bridge. This too will be our first time for NYE at DW.
