Okay, we just booked a studio at BWV for next week. I swear we were told we had preferred view and that earlier our ressie on the DVC member site said preferred room. But when I looked at it just now, it says Garden View room. Is that the same as Preferred? What would our view options be, then? Any chance we'd be able to see fireworks from the room? We have never stayed at Boardwalk before.

I think it's confusing myself. But a garden/pool view room is now what the DVC is calling a Preferred views that are not Boardwalk views nor standard views.

If you look at the fine point on the bottom of the point chart it defines it better.

Boardwalk view includes a view of the boardwalk. Preferred view includes a view of either pool, water or garden areas. Please specify Boardwalk view category or Preferred view category when reservation. Be sure to refer to the appropriate season dates when making reservations.

This change is just one of those titling changes on the Disney computer system that was recently instigated. For example, they now call a studio, a deluxe studio. You still have a Preferred view, just not a Boardwalk view. From other threads it sounds like you'll never get a Boardwalk view unless you own at BWV.

Here's a link to show what rooms are which view at BWV. http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=35847135&postcount=10 I would think you would need to have a Village Green Preferred (Garden view) to see the fireworks at Epcot. But you might see the fireworks at DHS for the rooms facing southwest.

If you are in a studio, I would request Village Green view, you get a partial boardwalk view. Those rooms are only studios. If you are in a larger room, you will be over one of the pools or facing the Swan/Dolphin at the far end.
