Buzz Light Year Closing In January????

I am just SICK after reading in All Ears that Buzz will be closed as of January 4th. This is the ONLY ride my son has talked about in anticipation for our trip...
What a bummer..........

January 2006

Epcot

Test Track will be closed for refurbishment beginning January 9, 2006 through February 14, 2006.

Ice Station Cool is closed and will reopen with a bright new look in early 2006 as "Club Cool." Samples of Coca-Cola products will still be offered.

Magic Kingdom

Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin will be closed for refurbishment January 4 through Wednesday, February 8, 2006.

Country Bear Jamboree will be closed to remove the holiday show from January 3 through January 7, 2006.

Liberty Square Riverboat will not be sailing until Mid-2006 due to an extensive rehab.

Water Parks

Typhoon Lagoon will be closed for annual rehab from December 25th, reopening spring 2006.

All Star Movies

The Fantasia Pool (main pool) will be close for rehab for the month of January beginning January 3, 2006. Shuttle service will be available to the All Star Sports and All Star Music resorts for use of those pools. Shuttle will run 10:00am to 10:00 pm daily.

Contemporary Resort

May 30, 2005 – 2006 South Garden Wing will be closed for refurbishment
June 29, 2005 - February 19, 2006 - Tower room refurbishment. One floor will be blocked off at a time.

Polynesian Resort

Longhouses are undergoing extensive rehab, minimal to no impact to guests.

Wilderness Lodge

Roaring Forks Snack Bar will close for rehab on January 9th. It will reopen late March 2006.

We can always count on a few attractions closed for rehab in January, each year. Unfortunately, this year, it does include Buzz Lightyear. However, it is just one of many many wonderful attractions, almost all of the rest of which will be operating.

It's always a bummer when something is closed that you'd like to see. But that will give you an excuse to start saving for your next trip!!!

Anyone have experience with rides under refurbishment opening early? My 2 sons will desperately miss Buzz, and we are going to be there a week before it is to reopen.

I don't think it will be opening early. We're going in January and are sad that it will be closed. It's one of our favorites.

It is more likely to reopen early than to go into rehab either early or late, but the most likely scenario is that their stated closed dates are pretty accurate.
