My bride and I have come to the decision to purchase into DVC. HOWEVER, according to the DVC rep the only available resort is SSR. My interest rests in the BWV or VWL. There are many of you that have indicated I potentially could buy into one of these resorts even though the are "sold out". I am interested in DVC reps that any of you spoke with concerning this same situation and have indicated contracts are available from these resorts. Thank you very much and God bless.

You can buy contracts at those resorts through our sponsor, The Timehsare Store. Many of us have used them to buy and sell and would do so again.

The guides probably prefer to sell SSR. If you only want one of the other resorts then you should just state that and see what they have in inventory. DVC can only sell points that it acquires through ROFR or a foreclosure, so the availability will likely be limited. There is probably a greater variety of contracts through The Timeshare Store.

Good luck.

click on to the timeshare store, you can buy anything you want. You will not get the same number of years in any other as you would in SSR.

Just press your guide about this, let them know you won't take NO for an answer. They WILL sell you what you want.

You can buy resale...just click on the Timeshare Store and see their inventory. You can definitely find contracts at the resorts you are looking for. There are other re-sellers out there too...just do a search on the internet. We have bought from Timeshare Store and other resellers as well and I highly recommend.

I think Disney can sell you the other resorts but they just don't seem to be interested in it since they are really trying to sell SSR. We have bought 3 resales and found the price is better as a resale than directly through Disney, but it all depends on how many points you want, etc.

I always find that whenever you deal with Disney it seems you get a different answer depending on who you talk to.

Good luck and God bless you too!

Timeshare Store (the sponsor) was GREAT for us on our resale contract... call them, give them an idea of what you want and if you are flexable on your "want." We got EXACTLY what we wanted within days (actually we were undecided and our "ideal" contract came on sale, so the deal closed us).

If your guide says "only can sell you SSR" then don't waste your time... unless you really liked your guide, just ask for a new guide that is welling to explain the options of SSR vs. others resorts and the how waitlist works.

DVC direct and Resale are two very different approaches... each with + & -.

... in the end when you are dealing with "sold out" properties it has a lot to do w/ luck and timing.

Good luck.

Thank you all. I must clarify that the rep I have has done all I expect at this point. We simply have not had much time to discuss my concerns and questions. Again, thank you very much.

You can buy sold out resorts through Disney. Of course that is only if they have an inventory of points. I've read that there is a waiting list to buy into the sold out resorts. So if your heart is set on BWV or VWL, you have two choices.....
Use the timeshare store and buy resale
Use Disney and get on a wait list for the resort of your choice.
Don't settle....buy where you want to stay.......
Good Luck

The issue should not be one rep against another rep...if DVC has inventory for the resort you want, any rep should be willing to sell you the points.

YOu need to be forceful with your rep...insist that you have no interest in SSR and if points are not available at the resort you want, then put your name on the waiting list for that resort. Don't take no for an answer with him/her.

No reputable DVC rep should be trying to sell you a resort you do not want, but you need to control the transaction.

I called Joan Lane, my rep, and said I wanted VWL...period. Once that was established, Joan made no effort to sell me SSR and the entire transaction was flawless and very quick. Joan is great to work with.

That's what we did, and once our rep Bernard was clear on that, it was smooth sailing (only a few days' wait) to purchase of our BWV points. Good luck!

I took the tour last week and up front told my guide that I was interested in BWV or BCV, not SSR. Although he did try to steer me toward SSR, he said that if I wanted a sold out resort he could put me on the waiting list.

Good choices!

We bought BWV through the Timeshare Store and then added on VWL through Disney.

We chose to buy directly from disney because everything was very simply laid out and the financing was much easier to me (not lots of paperwork to make out to get the financing...

When I first called, my guide was trying to sell us the SSR because there was a good sized incentive on it. When I told him I didn't like the area but wanted BWV's, he put us on the waitlist and it came up within a week or so... When I called him to add on, it took a good while longer (months)... because I wanted the points in the same use year. My guide is Byron and I'd recommend him... He was great and when we had questions, he was very helpful to us.
If you want to buy into a sold-out resort, I suggest you get what you want and if your guide isn't helping you out and trying to push you to something else, I'd certainly get another guide who will help you get what you want... Afterall, IT IS YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!

I have Byron too. When I first called , he asked me about buying SSR and told him I had stayed at BWV several times and would only buy there. He got me exactly what I wanted and he was very helpful and friendly.

Good luck
