Buying multiple resale contracts at the same time

Hello! My apologies if this has already been asked, but I couldn't find it. We are not currently members, and are in the process of buying two separate resale contracts at AKV. They are both the same use year (Dec) and will both be deeded exactly the same. Let's assume they end up closing 1-2 weeks apart from each other.

My question is, will Disney automatically combine these into one membership ID, since they are the same use year and deeded identically? Or will they not, because when I am closing on the second contract, the first contract will not be fully through the system yet? In other words, do I have to tell them to add the second contract to my existing member ID? Because I won't have my member ID yet to be able to do that! I'm hoping it happens automatically.

As a follow up, if for some reason it does end up being two member IDs because of the timing, would Disney combine them after the fact, since the resort, use year, and deed are all the same?

Thanks for your help!

I theory they should add the 2nd contract to your account/membership but things happen. I would have the broker/closing company reference both contracts in their dealings with DVC. I would also try to let member accounting know what's going on.

If Disney makes the mistake not putting both contracts in one account they will fix it. If it's your mistake, they won't.

If you have the same use year, they can (and should) be combined as one membership number and on log-in for the website (both will selectable be in a drop down window). If they are different use years, they will have different membership numbers.

How far apart were your offers or ROFR? Your best bet is to get your member number as soon as possible for the first one, and have the title company send it along with the second one once it's closed and they send it to Disney.

Good advice, thanks. I will contact both the agent and closing company and see what they can do. What is the best way for me to get a hold of member accounting?

They are only about a week apart, so I don't think it's feasible to get the member number from the first one before sending the second one back to Disney. Unless of course one of them gets held up for some reason...

Sounds tricky since they are both so close. It may be hard to tell which one will get a member first. Are you working with the same release/title company for both? That might help make things easier. Let us know what happens.

In this situation DVC may not be able to link them because they may not know until it's too late.

If it's the same title company for both contracts, I'd tell them to hold off sending one to Disney until they're both ready. Then then can send them together.

I had the exact same situation. My first and second contract (same use year and my entry into the DVC) were about 10 days apart. I will tell you what made me feel better (and worked out great) and would recommend the same to you.
As soon as I saw my deed appear in the OC web site for the first contract, I gave myself 9 days before calling member services to see if I was in the system. I called Mem Svc and they said they saw my name, but it would be another week before they would be able to get all the info into the system. At that point I stated my situation. They said I should call back as soon as I got my member ship number.
Once I did got that in the mail (from the first contract), I called back in. A VERY helpful and nice CM confirmed that he saw the other contract (which would take another couple of weeks to get into the system) and that since my UY and info on deed were exactly the same, I would get that contract added automatically to my membership. He even confirmed with the person who was going to load all the info and assured me. I know things could still have gone wrong, but I trusted what I was told and it worked out great.
Best of luck.

oh... to summarize, if your UY and Deed info is the same, it should be added to the same membership number automatically.

Thanks so much! This makes me feel a lot better that someone in my same situation had it work out with no hassle.

I also contacted the closing agent, and she gave me some advice as to what to write on the forms I will eventually send back to Disney. I'm still probably 60 days out from that point, but I'll report back once it all shakes out.

The risk in this situation is that they are close enough that DVC won't realize that it's two contracts titled the same of a single buyer. It'd be good to get at least 2 weeks between them and get the member and contract numbers before the info on the second one is actually sent to DVC. I'd say 10 days is about the minimum, might work out at 5-7 but it's risky. From what I understand, if they do create them separately, they will not go back and fix it.

Just to close the loop in this, we ended up closing about 3 weeks apart, which was long enough for me to have my member number before closing on the 2nd contract, so it all works out.

In other news, one contract had 160 unbanked points that were set to expire at the end of November, but member services allowed me to use them to book a trip in 2016.:cool1:

Great, glad it worked out.
