Hi guys

Need to buy some new suitcases for this years trip:headache:

Now we are restricted with Virgin to 1 case each:scared1::scared1: (unless of couse we want to pay for extra bags:sad2::sad2:) I am looking for the biggest, lightest, cheapest, options - yes I no I dont want much!!!:rotfl2, but bearing in mind we will have birthday DD (12) and christmas with 3 DD's, space is of the essence!!!

Ive had a look at the subZero but is it me or do they look like a shopping trolley:confused3 would really have to bribe oldest DD to pull one of those;) and notsure if DH would be keen either:laughing:

Anyone had any experience of these cases? or does anyone have any other recommendations?

Thanks for your advise:hug:

Just remember they have size limits too and could reject cases that are too large. :goodvibes

No experience of these. We just take 3 soft cases that have a handle that pulls out between 4 adults. If you are hiring a car you have to make sure they will fit in the boot at the other end.

I just know you are not expecting to hear my take on this

The cost of a 'decent' lightweight case vs the cost of a cheaper, fairly lightweight suitcase is going to be a fair amount of money. I think it is cheaper to buy a 'cheap' suitcase or use one your already have. And take an extra one and pay upfront for the extra luggage.

Probably not what you were looking for but I am going to do this. It's only on the return I need to prepurchase extra luggage allowance as going out I will pack one case inside the other as I did in prior years.

Sub Zero G's are great cases. We bought 4 for our last trip in August. I was worried that the wouldn't survive the baggage handlers rough treatment. However they stood up well to two long haul flights.

They are easy to pull along and are very stable. We have the black ones with pink flowers and they are very distinctive when on the luggage carousel.

Virgin do give you a little leeway on the weight of the cases. One of ours was 24 kilos, and the check in rep said they wouldn't charge excess baggage fees till 26 kilos.

Those Sub Zero cases seem to be on sale in Argos at the moment - just checked their website, and the large cases are priced at £39.99. Which is a 1/3 off apparently :)

HTH :goodvibes

I bought the pink bow one from here, I must say I'm very impressed... yes they do look like a shopping trolley, but thats only because they are not rounded to give you as much room as poss... I'd recommend them... and they do have a 10 year guarantee for manufacture problems too :thumbsup2

Sub zeros are also on offer in tj Hughes/ tk maxx, 24.99 for the large ones!!

I just bought a set of Heys light weight luggage from TK Maxx and they are the hard shell ones with butterflies on it. For the set of 4 (small/med/large and beauty case) for way less than the price quoted else where approx £700-£1000 less depending on where you look.

They are 4 wheel spinner case and are light weight and lovely pattern. They get good reviews as well for being hard wearing and light weight.

I agree with the look of the sub zero ones looking like a shopping trolley but looks like they are better than they look from the posts here. I was worried about them being a bit thin on the fabric.

DH really liked the look of the Heys Hummer set that was on offer at TK Maxx though he might just go with his manly hold all LOL
