Buying in at what property?

I'd argue if you have to finance you have no business in this economy buying DVC.

Well, I'd argue that everyone's situation is different and comments like this are unnecessary and harsh. I agree with ToddyLu -- when I see comments like this, it just pisses me off, implying that those who financed are irresponsible people. Frankly, it's no one's business but the owner who financed and comments like this are not appreciated and serve no purpose.

I bought 90 points at BLT to use at the 7 month booking timeframe. Many will question why and here are my reasons: MF's, will hold value better over the long run over SSR, is in higher demand for renting purposes, can unload these points on the resale market faster than SSR, standard view booking advantage. I will more than make up the initial increase in purchase price for BLT. It's really a no brainer if you can swing the purchase. For what ever reasons the market has spoken on SSR and it does not like it.

Please re-read this thread. What I originally said was SSR is the best deal out there if you buy re-sale. This quote you are responding to is my response to OP saying some people cannot buy re-sale because they may have trouble getting financing. My point is that is not worth buying SSR directly from Disney for $30 more per point than re-sale, and that if you are purchasing directly from Disney one of the other resorts is a better deal. I believe at this point in time BLT is the best deal if buying new resorts from Disney. AKL dues are high and its re-sale is pretty low compared to buying new(about $84 per point). No one can see in the future on dues or re-sale value so we have think about what is going on in the present. BLT is a monorail resort close to MK which I think will keep its value better than some of the other resorts. Dealing in the here and now BLT has has the highest re-sale value and lowest dues. If I was a betting man I would guess it has one of the greatest chances of holding its re-sale value and staying one of the lowest MF resorts. Not to mention it expires later than any other of the resorts.

If you do not care where you stay buy at one of the cheaper resorts. I started off with a HHI contract because that was the only way I could afford to get the # of points that I wanted. I have not had problems getting reservations at disney but do not care where I stay. I did do an add on at BWV to get reservations in early december. That all being said I now spend way more time at HHI than at WDW because it is a great family getaway. :lovestruc but when I used to spend more time at WDW I could get OKW and SSR at most any time. (I have stayed at all of the resorts except BCV) Good luck with your choice.
