Buying DVC was the worst mistake

I find myself looking at my own posts just so I can see the vacation countdown in my signature.

Well, we can save you the time it takes to go on line to check your countdown on your signature.

Go to the DVC web site and then go to Member Privileges>Member Widget Gallery and download your desktop Vacation Countdown! :)

Don't get me wrong. I love WDW and I think DVC is a great purchase for anyone planning frequent trips.

But that's the problem. I used to plan a Disney vacation a few months in advance. After a few months of anticipation I would enjoy my vacation, then come home to "reality".

Now all my time is spent planning and anticipating the next vacation. I joined in May and I already have my next 3 vacations lined up. I find myself looking at my own posts just so I can see the vacation countdown in my signature.

At one point there was a 13 year gap between trips for me, but now I'm finding a 1 year wait to be excruciating.

I don't know why I'm looking for sympathy here. You're all probably just as crazy as me.

LOL Great post! :yay:

I'm right there with you guys!! This year we were lucky enough to go 3 times (usually it's just 2). January we took friends, May we just HAD to try Kidani and September is our usual trip. Next year we have January planned with my Mom and then our usual September trip.

We had decided to cut back to just twice in 2010. Then came our plan to attend the Phillies Spring Training in March. How could I go to FL and NOT go to Disney? Was it possible? NOT!!! We are arriving late on a Wednesday and staying at OKW till Friday. Friday's game is not till 7pm so we'll have all day Thursday and most of Friday in the World. Just had to sneak some Disney into the plan!!

Just be thankful to know that you are not alone!!!!

Since becoming DVC members earlier this year, our lives are now governed by countdown calendars. When ************** goes down, we go down. We have "only" two trips booked right now, BLT in March 2010, and a split stay BLT/AKV for F&W in September 2010. Each trip has had four countdowns: The day the 11-month window opens; the day the 7-month window opens; the day the 180-day ADRs open; and the trip itself. I'm probably forgetting other key dates that I should be tracking, but I'm still in my rookie year, so please give me some slack!

My DH and I find that DVC is the ship that helps us deal with the waves of life. We need to get on the "ship" once in awhile when life gets stressful. Of course, I check the boards at work :rolleyes1 just so I can daydream about my next vacation!

See now, we used to live 20 minutes (w/out traffic) from our beloved DL, but we moved so that our DSes could grow up in a "normal" place! It was the right decision, but we really, really, really miss Grandma, the beach & DL. Don't ask us to prioritize those -- or the kids, especially if you are Grandma, because your feelers might get hurt! Don't worry, Grandma doesn't use the internet! I don't know how y'all get by on one or two trips a year. We are surviving on 4 trips a year, but just barely! 36 hours to go........I can make it...

Everyone I work with knows "how many more sleeps" until our next WDW trip, which will be our FIRST DVC trip. Woo hoo!!!

Personally, I think the crazy people are those that go to WDW and don't prepare anything. An old high school friend just came back last week, and was complaining about the dining. He has a 6 yr old and an 8 yr old and didn't make any reservations. His girls were so upset that they didn't get to have the character dinners their friends had. If I had known they were going (we're only Facebook friends now) I could have warned him ahead of time to make reservations.

LOL, you described my last 12 years perfectly!

My wife and I are going twice in two months. Thanksgiving and christmas to NYE this year :banana:and cant wait:banana:. If thats crazy i dont want to be sane!!!!!:woohoo:

You and my 13-year old are both obsessing! All I hear is, "where are we going to stay next time?" "Mom, what do you think about the blah, blah, blah Place?" "How many points for blah, blah, blah resort?" "Tell me about borrowing points!"

It's making me crazy, too!!

I understand completely. I used to have a countdown timer on my work PC with the number of days until my desired retirement date, but that number is still very large and I'm not sure my 201K balance will recover in time.

The number of days until my next Disney Vacation is much easier to deal with!

I was just whining tonight at dinner that it has been 2 full months since we've stayed at a dvc resort and we still have another full month to go until our next scheduled trip. Life just isn't fair!

becoming a dvc member can seem to start onset anxiety attacks, I only have one trip planned which is Feb 2010 to VGC and I am confused and inudated with stressed because I dont have enough points to plan another trip (I don't even have any points to borrow...for crying out lout)

We bought our first DVC at BLT on Sunday. We are leaving today to stay st BWV and I am already planning for next year. I hope we can squeek out 2 next year. My DH doesn't know what he has done! :lmao::rotfl:

Misery loves company! Birds of a feather flock together! The more the merrier! Who cares if others don't get it! ;)

:rotfl2: Isn't that the truth? Thank heavens for DVC because without it, we wouldn't have been able to take a vacation at all while I was in grad school. Waiting for my 11 month to open for F&W and MNSSHP for next year. We are also beginning the process to add on points (there's another disease we all share...addonitis) so that we can have a couple of short vacations in addition to our 11 day October trip.

I leave for WDW in a few hours and I can hardly wait. I made my reservations 7 months ago for BLT and I swear I have aged considerably in anticipation of tomorrow. No matter how many times I go I always act like im a kid again when Im going to WDW.

I think you'll likely settle down after a year or two and be more relaxed. To me having other trips in the works when a given trip is done lessens the post trip depression significantly. Having made multiple trips to WDW and other DVC resorts also has me in the frame of mind that if I miss something on a given trip it's not big deal, will catch it later.
