Busy! Sold Out! Dreaded Call! And Also Refill Mugs?

I don't think anyone knows anything much. I CM I talked to said they did not know about POFQ until that day. I was put on hold and that is when they transfered me to Customer Service. If our reservations were o.k. they would have told me that.

I should have mentioned that we were booked at Port Orleans - Riverside. I had requested one of the front buildings, pool view, ground floor.

We asked for Oak Manor, Pool View also. That is up front. If I hear anything more I will post.

What I am going to hope for at this point if codes so we can move so I don't stress over this. We do love POR.

The funny thing is that we hear so many stories. The lady I talked to early in the morning and I called back in the afternoon to make sure that this all was what they were telling me. Both of the stories were the same. I had to move and they were full. Now, I do not want to be the bearer of bad news and don't yell at me. Keep checking with Disney. I remember reading that someone got a call a week before they were to leave. That is why I called a week ago and was told I did not have to move. Then got a call a week later.

MrsPete - you are right and it is frustrating to hear so many things. 1) that the economy is so bad 2) Disney stock fell and the park attendance is down 3) I am told that all of the hotels are full

Who knows what to believe. I asked both times if I could stay at POR and the answer was no. One thing I think I am hearing and maybe someone can add to this: I am reading and hearing that alot of the hotels such as Polynesian and the Yacht and Beach Clubs have some renovations going on. So Disney doesn't have all of their rooms available - maybe a portion of some of the hotels - in that case maybe they will be full but not really truely full.

And things don't add up! The funny thing is some people say you can still get rooms and you can still book online for POR. I should try to book again and see what happens. I am going to just leave things alone and enjoy my vacation coming up and like I said we are happy at CBR. Keep smiling everyone!!!

I am not SURE this is the case, but here goes................

Perhaps with part of POR being closed, WDW set aside BLOCKS of rooms at each resort for moving the people who cannot be accomodated at POR for their original reservation (for a small fee). Just like they have a BLOCK of rooms for each code (Florida residents, residents of other specially coded states, annual passholders, etc.). Generally the resorts don't have all their rooms available for one type of code--they only sell so many rooms at that type of code (say 40 out of 408 rooms--40 rooms in this particular block) and then the particular code is SOLD OUT. This being said, that means there is a chance you could call and get a reservation at a resort that someone else was told is sold out, providing you were using a different code or paying full rack rate. It has also been my experience (I am a Florida resident) that when I call two months ahead of the time I will be staying on property, the room I am requesting under the Florida resident rate is sold out. So I usually wait until the day before I am leaving and call again............and guess what, every time there has been a room available (at the Florida resident rate) at the previously sold out resort. I believe this is because people must cancel their reservations at least five days before their scheduled trip (when booking through CRO, WDTC works differently and is something like 45 days in advance) to receive their deposit back/not be charged for the first night.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy your stay!

Just returned from a week at CBR and LOVED it. To us it was more than a moderate. Nicely refurbished and very relaxing. I would definately chose this over a hotel with dark hallways and elevators.
