The Iraqi government and the people on the street know that we need to stay to help stablize the existing government and train the army. They have a lack of officers and leadership skills take time to develop. All Iraqi polls my an overwhelming majority indicate that they are better off now then they were under Saddam. They are more optomistic about the success of their country than the Democratic party is. That's sad!

Who cares? Do you live in Iraq? Are you of Iraqi descent? More importantly, is George W. Bush?

I don't know for certain, but I don't think he is. One might suspect, he's improperly used his power for a personal conflict he had. :scratchin

Joe Lieberman is a Democrat and he feels very encouraged by what he sees on the ground. He has broken ranks with his party to assert that. Where do you get your ideas that freeing 27 million people is irrelevant to changing the middle east and impacting the war on terror???

I've come to an inescapable conclusion.............it's not an Oscar-worthy perfomance. :rolleyes1

Oh come on, how can you defend GWB? He is so openly stupid. When I see "TV Bloopers" featuring GWB, showing clips of the MANY speeches where he just messed up completely, that should tell you something! HE is the EMBARRASSMENT!!!

Are you referring to his speach problems? I have speach problems...are you making fun of me as well?

Good for the Iraqis? So when do they start fighting for themselves and their future?

Or are you buying the "200,000 battle-ready Iraqis" ?

You may want to pass on answering so as to avoid stating the obvious.

But were you born filthy-rich, went to the best schools, and have had every advantage life could ever provide?

If the answer is yes..............

The only existing democracy in the middle east prior to the liberation of Iraq was Israel. The area is unstable, lead by autocracies and theocracies that deprive human beings of individual rights, ruling by fear and torture. This is exactly the breeding ground for terrorists who are taught in the Madrasas since birth that the west is their enemy. Freedom, democracy, being able to provide the basic comforts and education for their families is what will change that perception. Turkey is an Islamic country but they are also a democracy and they are free to pursue capitalism, industry and individual autonomy. Changing the face of the middle east is what will defeat terrorism. When the average "Joe" has the same opportunites that they rest of the free world does, they will reject those who want to deprive them of those things, which are the fanatical Islamists.

What does that have to do with speach problems? Can't the rich have speach problems?

I think its pretty amazing that in just 3 short years they have come this far.

Yes, but they have the resources to have them corrected.

Actually, as much as I can't stand the guy, I don't fault him on his lack of skill when it comes to public speaking. Some people have that gift, some don't. It doesn't mean a person isn't intelligent. I have plenty of reasons not to like Bush, I don't need to pick on the way he talks!

Those silly Americans.

Don't they realize that the economy is BOOMING and the war with Iraq is going so well???

It actually is. There is a reluctance of the media to call attention to those very facts. In fact, CBS News spent 4 minutes of probably 16 minutes of news time discussing the difference between deodorant and antiperspirant. My kids knew that by puberty! All while Saddam is on trial being confronted with the most horrific testimony from those Iraqis lucky enough to live through their torture.
What did I hear about Saddam? Comments about his wardrobe!

That's true that the rich have the money to correct speach problems, but just because he may still have a problem speaken doesn't mean that people can make fun of him. People think speach problems equals stupidity...that's not the case. Stupidity equals stupidity.

Excuse, denial and change of subject.

Are you one of Bush's speechwriters?

Not all speech problems are correctable. His father has a specific speech pattern as well. I think that there is some genetic issues when it comes to speech problems. Also, if speech issues aren't addressed by a specific age, usually 3 to 5, they become ingrained and almost impossible to change. My youngest DS started speech therapy at 17 months and ended in 8th grade. Most of what we know about speech pathology has really been developed in the last 25 years. Issues not addressed before adolescence are probably life long.

Thank you for the compliment. No I am not. There is no excuse, denial or change of subject, its the reality of the situation.

I had a severe stuttering problem when I was very young, and was in speach therapy for a few years as well. I'm over it now, but if I'm not careful I'll start to stutter again.

Agreed, you are right. I should not have made fun of him. I dont need to say anything else, I have others on this post who are doing a great job of getting to the point.. I didn't mean to make fun of a speech impediment.
