Bush ratings continue to drop to new lows

Some have been complaining all along, and I'm always wondering how it was that Bush promised the conservative movement anything. Conservatives had a choice: Bush or Gore. Buchanan and other hard-line conservatives don't win elections. So that's a legitimate criticism - he's not that conservative - but Bartlett feeling "betrayed" is kind of amusing.
I only brought up Bartlett as an example of how the President is in such a weaked state politically, even Republican members of Congress, ex-Reagan Administration economists, neocon op-ed apologists like David Brooks, as well as a majority of the American public do not approve of the job that Bush is doing and it shows in the polls...

Personally, I don't agree politically with Bartlett (too far to the Right for my tastes), but would he have published this book 2 years ago? No way.

That doesn't say much for Bartlett. Though I don't know much about him. I've noticed more news accounts lately of Republicans voicing discontent, but that discontent has always been there - Medicare D didn't suddenly just appear this year, and it's loved by no political groups, right or left. Bush probably lost most of his capital on that alone.

The fact is that the conservative movement, as represented by people who want to reduce social spending, can't win elections. But they can voice their disapproval of it all they want, and that block plus the liberal/Democrat side probably would equal about 2/3 of the public.

And your point? I tend to believe that Kelly, Chris, Shawn and Anthony are safer for what the President has done and is doing then if he had done nothing at all. Its good to see a President that is driven by principal instead of poll numbers. :thumbsup2
