Are there buses that run from one park to another? For example, we are having breakfast at AK and then spending the rest of the day at DHS. Can we take a bus directly to DHS or do we need to change at DTD or a resort?

Thanks!

There are buses that run between the different parks. Buses run between AK and the other parks. Epcot has buses to other parks but only the monorail to MK. DHS has buses to all parks. MK has busess to the parks with the exception of Epcot..again, the monorail.
BUT...the buses, to and from MK, do not go right to MK. They go to the TTC. There you have to take either the monorail or ferry over to the MK. Only resort buses go right to MK.

Thank you! :goodvibes That's good to know about the buses to MK. I think I've only taken a bus there from a resort (or the monorail to/from Epcot) so I wouldn't have known there was a difference.

One more question - there are buses directly from the parks to DTD, right?

No, no buses between parks and Downtown Disney - primarily to discourage Guests from parking free at Downtown Disney and visiting the parks instead of spending money in the stores (and taking away parking from people who did want to shop).

You'll need to take a bus to a resort, then another bus (or, depending on the resort, a boat) to Downtown Disney.

Maybe I've just been unlucky, but it seems to me like the buses that go from one park to another are always the slowest to arrive and have the longest lines. We try and avoid using the buses for this reason. I remember waiting once 45 minutes at DHS to go to Epcot. The line was huge. We said forget it and walked. It was faster than the boat or the bus.

Bummer on the slow buses between parks. Well, at least we're only planning to park hop with the buses one day (our other park hopping would be between MK and EP). Good to know about DTD too. I couldn't remember how we'd gotten there in prior visits.

Again, maybe just our bad luck but the bus service to/from DTD was the slowest in all my years of going to disney. We wanted to go from DHS to DTD so we took a bus to SSR. Then we planned on taking the small boat from SSR to DTD. Thankfully the boat waited for us to hustle down the ramp otherwise it would have taken even longer. On the way back was the real delay. We must have waited a good 30 minutes for bus back to VWL. We were just so tired and wanted to go home. We've had relatively good luck most other times with the buses.

Bus service between parks can be very slow. It's just not a hugely popular thing to do. If I were at DHS, for instance, and wanted to get to the MK, I would hop on the CR bus. If I were at MK and wanted to get to AK, again, I would head to the CR and take their bus directly to AK.
At DHS and need to get to Epcot?? Either take the boat, or walk. Usually walking is faster...about 25 mins at a normal pace.
It is usually so much easier to head to a resort and then take their bus to the next park.

And yes, the buses to DTD are some of the absolute slowest. I have to say that when I rented a car, while at BW, and drove to DTD...I was astounded to find just how close it is. It seems to take forever to get to DTD from BW when taking the bus. But in a car, it takes about 10-14 mins!!!

Interesting. So I guess I wasn't hallucinating.

So what would be the best way to get from AK to DHS? Is there a better way than the park-to-park bus?

I would think the quickest way would be to take the bus from AK to AKL and then from AKL to DHS.

Taking the DHS bus from AK is the best way. It goes directly to the park and makes no stops in between.

The park to park buses are very reliable and only get crowded at certain times of the day. When that happens they add more buses to the route.

Why would you want to do that? This is NOT the quickest way.

From AK to AKL, you need to go to 2 stops at AKL, Kidani Village and Jambo House. Even if you get off the bus at Kidani, the Studios bus still will need to go to Jambo House after picking up at Kidani Village. Then, you stop at BB before getting to Studios.

Got load zone 14 at AK and take the direct bus as MICKEEP stated. Much faster and Direct.
