Busdriver Attacked By Guest

So after seeing this video I am extra happy that I am able to ride on the Shades busses with Americas military.
I agree with you that things are different on SOG buses, but in fairness, you have to consider the riders background and the size of the resort, less than 600 rooms. The SOG can get by with a handful of buses as compared to almost 300.

On the vast majority of trips, people on the WDW buses behave no differently than the those on SOG buses, but because of the huge ridership numbers, you're bound to get some incidents. The rudeness and frustration on some WDW buses is directly related to situations that arise as a result of the large ridership.

True about the size,However I am still very fortunate that indeed I do get to ride the shades buses..:-) And yes, With the large amount of WDW buses their is bound to be a few rotten apples .

I can't see taking an infant to Disney. The child doesn't know what is going on and taking care of them would be tough. Unless one took a babysitter along I guess. Maybe they did.

Somewhat unrelated question. Not in this case, but if someone at Disney does something to get them permanently banned, can they appeal in the future to have the ban lifted? (Not me, I'm just curious as some of the stories I've read were from incidents when now adults were kids).

If they don't get into any more trouble and don't get into any self defense situations involving violence there, then they may very well get away with visiting Disney again despite having been banned. Otherwise there may be a violation of restraining order, and jail time.

That is your opinion and you are certainly entitled to it. There are lots of people that disagree with you though and I happen to be one of them!
:)

Unrelated to topic of the bus driver but I just had to share this with you. One of the BEST character interactions I ever saw was at Park Fare breakfast with characters. Tigger was there. At the table behind us and perhaps a bit to the right was a family with an infant. Not a newborn but certainly not walking, talking, crawling either. Barely able to sit up without all the blankets around her to bolster her up. Cutest thing...anyhoo, along comes Tigger, who took his sweet time with this baby, and it was GLORIOUS. I took pictures!!! With of course parental consent...anyhoo, the baby was a little startled and unsure, and Tigger just hunkered down, started to wave, and soon enough had the baby playing pattycake. And the HUGS and SMILES from that baby!!! So there are many enjoyable moments to be had with infants.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled discussion...

Is this info from an official WDW source?

Wait. Throwing a baby? I'm confused.

I haven't read all the reponses but let me see if I got this straight.

The father throws his baby at the bus driver like a rag doll? For what...so that he's guaranteed a seat? Or...was he just trying to use the baby as a weapon?

Am I missing something here?

I've made 7 trips to WDW & used the buses on every single trip since I don't drive. I have never seen anything like this, in fact I really can't remember much rudeness at all. In fact, I've seen many people give up their seats, I've been on buses where everybody's laughing at the driver's jokes, or where people are just chatting with each other. So I wouldn't hesitate to ride a bus anytime on WDW property.

Who knows what his motives were.. he was just so out of control that he actually shoved/pushed his baby into the driver.. and the driver caught the baby.. that is a scary situation.. I don't understand how a parent could be that upset that they throw their baby...:sad2:
I am leaning on the side of this man must throw anything at anyone when he gets upset.. doesn't matter what it is or who it is...

Understood, but what I'm asking is if someone is on the lifetime ban list, is there any way for them to ask to be removed from the list? For example, I recall reading someone as a kid received a lifetime ban for shoplifting. Now kids will do stupid things, so as an adult, are they simply out of luck or can they go to Disney and ask them to lift the ban? (I'm not talking about them trying to sneak in).

This is a very sick/stupid person..I hope they press charges. Its very sad how some people act while on vacation, for some reason WDW seems to make some people act like complete idiots...

Knowing him, I'm sure he's just fine. I picture him laughing at all the media attention.

Except for the physical contact, drivers that work during park closings, deal with similar situations on regular basis. So no biggie.

It's hard to tell from the video, but that driver is an impossing figure. I don't think I would have given him a hard time. I thought he restrained himself quite well, but I wouldn't expect any less of him.

Please post if any negative job action is taken against him.

I just paid off my family's scheduled mid-December trip, but I'll cancel in a heartbeat and take my money somewhere else if he gets disciplined over this.

we did. not a baby baby but dd was 7 months old the first time we took her

life doesn't stop until they are 4 or 6 or 10 or whatever age someone thinks they'll appreciate going. we love going and took her when we did.

others have more then one and don't want to wait until the youngest is 4 because maybe the older ones are 6 and 8 or whatever.

we didn't have a baby sitter either - if or i wanted to go on a ride the other one stayed with dd unless it was something we all could go on and there are plenty of those types of rides.

Too bad this didn't happen on the 14th when I was there. I would have been all too happy to help the driver when he was being choked. I don't go looking for fights but as a police officer I will definitely help when needed.

Yep, life doesn't stop because one has a baby. I have taken my kids to Disney since the first one was 7 months old as well. I have three kids.. My youngest went when she was just a few months old (4 months I think).. why, because her older sister was 4 & her brother was 6 :goodvibes I too never took a sitter with me. I just had to alter what rides I did and didn't do. My DH was not always there when I went to the parks. He isn't really a park person, so while I was there with babies.. there were times I was the only adult. I did it. It isn't hard. It is all up to the parent. If they feel that they cannot handle going with an infant, then they don't.. but if they can, it is not anyone else's business what they do. This isn't a topic that you can advise someone on a ya or nay.. This is a personal matter for the parents, only they will know what they can/can't handle.
In the case of this man who used his child as a tool, he has demonstrated he cannot handle it.... his actions actually lead me to wonder if he can even handle having a child.

No, don't cancel your trip no matter what happens. It's not fair to you and your family. Disney incompetents, I mean management, do a lot of stupid things. If they fired him, it's just another one.

The Terrorisn charge (if there is one) could be based on the fact that if I for example, a 5'2 110 pound white woman got on any type of public transportation and caused an incident in which everyone on that Bus, Plane, Train etc felt like they were in harm then I could be charged with terrorizing...

I do not practice in Florida, so I am not familiar with their Penal Code - however, when I started practicing in CA the term used for criminal threats was "terrorist threats" until everyone got hyper sensitive over the "prejorative" nature of "terrorist" after 9-11. Then it was changed to "criminal threats"...as if the schmuck would be convicted based soley on the title of the charge :rolleyes1 Anyway, in Florida they may not have felt the need to PC up their codes...nothing in the description of the incident or charges seems to really be related to "terrorism" in the current useage of the word. IMO.
