Busdriver Attacked By Guest

I had a run in with a man from a different country in September. We were waiting for the monorail and this family showed up in line about 15 minutes after us.. When the monorail got there, the man proceeded to push his son past everyone in front saying "babies first" . Well, he tried anyway- just put my arms out to the side to block them. He told me " in my country, it's babies first" . I replied, " in this country, it's first come first served". We made room for the kid, but the guy had to stand. The wife apologized for him. Incidentally, they ended up taking a knife away from the guy in the bag check line, so he got even angrier. I think sometimes cultural differences cause problems ..the guy in my scenario was ticked that I was arguing with him- how dare a woman talk back to him.

Frankly I would have said "this isn't YOUR country". Don't people know how to behave anymore? When was civility flushed down the toilet? This bullying BS has got to stop somewhere...and SOON! Scary doings indeed.

Yeah and then you're all stuck in the same monorail car which makes for a very uncomfortable situation, only to find out when he goes through security he had a knife the whole time. Who brings their knife to the amusement park  "Honey, can you grab those brass knuckles for me before we go to the park, ya know just in case!"

You know the old saying "When in Rome"... learn a little bit about the culture you're traveling to..don't assume because this is the land of the free that we have no social decorum. And throwing babies, strangling bus drivers and bringing weapons to the park isn't cool man. :sad2:

The bus from DHS to Epcot loads in the charter lot, because they ran out of load zones in the area where the rest of the buses load.

There is no queue there to organize guests waiting for the Epcot bus; I don't know whether audience control tries to create a line at park closing.

I know there aren't any queue's in the charter zone.. but I didn't think they loaded Disney buses where they loaded the charters.. at least I have never taken one from there.. The story still doesn't make sense; if there were a plain clothes security officer on that bus, he would have handled the situation instead of having guests have to scream for security and then waiting for them to arrive  The purpose of plain clothes security is just that.. to pop up fast when needed..and unexpected... not to sit on a bus and allow a guest to choke a fellow CM :confused3

The poster that you quoted is very knowledgable on all things bus and transportation related. I would take what was posted as fact.
Not only does the Epcot bus load and unload there, all resort buses unload there as well.

Has anyone confirmed that they put plain clothes security on WDW buses?

This is absolutely terrifying. EVERYONE waits in line for the busses. Gotta take your turn! I am happy to hear that the bus driver didn't get into trouble seeing how he was just doing his job. It takes patience people. Expect to wait!! :hippie:
Just sayin!

I just read/saw this. How crazy! I hope the busdriver isn't repremanded for this, seems like he didn't do anything but defend himself.

And while I read the guy was banned from Disney and charged with assult, I have to think he also should have someone look into the fact that he threw his baby. :scared1:

ETA- Update from another poster in post 14, the bus driver was not repremanded and the guy is in some serious trouble.

For those asking who can't see it now, the guy with his family was waiting for a bus. Apparently the driver told him it was full and to wait for the next bus. The guy was upset saying they have a child and then threw the baby, under a year old by the looks her her, at the driver and then strangled him.
I'm glad to hear that the man was banned and hopefully put in jail. What kind of jerk throws his baby? He then tries to use the infant for his excuse.
LOSER!

I am not sure you read the comment I did if you are asking this question. I responded to the person who had the comment in her/his post.. it was from another board.. not from here. I will copy and paste so you can see what I am talking about.. again, it wasn't the poster I quoted who stated it..it was a copy into their post.. from someone else.. Original post I am talking about is post number 14

here goes...

I hope it is OK to post this here but I fiqured since everyone would want to know what happened to the poor bus driver9 inknow I was curious to know) I would go ahead and post this it was taken from another Diseny forum!

Quote:
I work for bus operations and the entire incident was caught on the security cameras.Every load zone has a high def camera that sees the bus and load zone. We can actually zoom in with the cameras and read the drivers name and his hometown on his name tag on their uniform. Also in the video one of the gentleman on the bus,{I wont identify him} was one of our plain clothes security officers and was in the load zone at the time and witnessed the attack. Security was called along with the OCSO,and yes it took them a few minutes to get to him. This was because the bus was in load zone C7 which is in the charter bus lot and away from the regular Resort load zones near the entrance to Hollywood Studios. If you watch the video closely you will see flashing red and blue lights illuminating the side off the bus. When the wife saw them pull up the wife took off,and tried to hide in the crowd, and left her child with the husband. Other guests identified her to security. They were then removed from the bus and load zone and taken backstage. The gentleman was then arrested and handcuffed for assault on the driver. He is also facing charges for Terrorist threat due to the assault happening on the bus, and public endangerment. They were also ejected from the resort they were staying at,and trespassed from Walt Disney World property. They will not be returning to the Happiest Place on Earth ever again. Also everyone will be happy to hear the driver was not reprimanded for the incident, and continued with his job that evening. I actually saw and talked to him last night and he is doing fine.
Also forgot to add copy of the security tape was provided to the OCSO,they are in turn forwarding it to the state attorney for possible further charges of Felony child neglect and endangerment.

As you can see after reading this, the original poster who stated this, is not from this board.. they state that there was security on the bus and that the attacker was arrested.. I doubt this is true since the security would have stopped the attacker and all the news stations in Orlando had reported (and quoted) the Orange County Sheriff's Dept was not called, no law enforcement was called and the attacker was not arrested..

Yes, I did read post #14 and I did realize that you were quoting it. I guess I was asking the question in relation to that post.
The person that orignally wrote that says they work in bus operatons, but I'm wondering if they really do.

Now you get why I said what I said :goodvibes When someone has a "quote" in their post & you quote them...the original quote doesn't show up.. that was where the confusion came in with me & you..

I doubt that the person who wrote they work for transportation really got that story correct.. and as you said... wonder if they even work for Disney.... for one thing, if they really did....they should never come onto a board and post something like that.. there are rules that need to be followed and giving out info when it wasn't publicly announced is a no-no.... not just for a CM but for any employee in any company :goodvibes

Bad enough that he attacked the driver but the baby throwing saddens and disgusts me. It's so obvious that the child is pretty much property in his eyes and not a human being. And the wife just stood there looking afraid, which tells me that she's seen his rage and violence directed at her at some point.

I hope that guy gets the book thrown at him.

I was a few people back in the bag check line so I could see the knife..it looked like a steak knife, so probably was meant for food.( at least I hope so...)I wasn't uncomfortable at all on the monorail, actually. I don't intimidate easily.;) boy, was he ticked though when they took that knife from him ! Between the mouthy American broad and his cutlery being taken, he was having a crappy day!:rotfl2:

I am one of the ones who posted the quote from the other site and while I do not know the poster personally they seem to have a lot a lot of creditability on the other site. Could it be at all possible that the guest was in fact taken into custody by police right after the incident and than released because charges were not pressed which would be why news stations are reporting that he in fact was not arrested. I don’t know I just hope that the bus driver goes on un harmed from this incident because the clearly was defending himself from a nut case. I also wanted to add that I am in no way raising two little over protected snowflakes but I can tell you that had I been on that bus and my children were exposed to that attack and there was no way to get them off to remove them from the situation I would have been furious and I may be looking into to see if there was something I could do legally to this man just to teach him a lesson that you cannot go around behaving in such a manner and walk away with zero consequences.

Wow!! I think I will stick to the Shades of Green bus!

I was thinking the same thing..On the shades buses the young men and women give up their seats for the elderly and mothers/children..Heck, Even elderly men have tried to give me their seats and I always reply "No Thank You"..No one ever fighting or in a hurry..(I assume like my family that we are all just happy to be on vacation with our loved ones.) So after seeing this video I am extra happy that I am able to ride on the Shades busses with Americas military.:cool1:

This is just horrible....I cant believe that someone would do something like that.
I read that he was thrown out of his resort and banned from WDW. Just wondering how they would keep him out of WDW. I realize they can have him flagged on their booking system, but if he bought tickets from undercovertourist or somewhere like that and stayed off property, then how would they know? I agree that he should be banned, but how can they inforce it?

Easy...Remember everytime you go through a turnstile you have to use your fingerprint...
