on the bus now 45 minutes from movies going to DTD. Packed and standing so many people packed on its unreal. Been 45 minutes now and just getting to RCFD its backed up traffic looks like at this pace another 15 to 20 minutes. Unreal to pack a bus like this and take over an hour to get from point a to point b. Not so magical right now.

Sorry you had so much trouble. What time did you end up getting to DTD? Hope you were still able to salvage the night!

It's definitely weird when people keep on getting onto a bus that's already standing room, that's for sure! There will be another bus!

How is it weird? The next bus could be just as packed.....especially when you're heading to DTD on a Saturday night.

Its a Saturday night, and it's no secret that traffic around DTD is a nightmare. Not the bus drivers fault that traffic is bad. And I agree with Bumber. No one is forcing people to pile into a bus that is clearly SRO. Hope you manage to salvage your evening, but be prepared for crowds.

You can certainly wait for the next bus to get a seat. But chances are the next bus will be standing room only as well. I don't mind being on a packed bus, but if it gets too crowded, I need to stand anyways.

That's one small downside of Movies. If the buses are sharing (probably happens more often for DTD), you're at a disadvantage. In theory you could walk over to Music or even Sports for a better chance at a seat. But I wouldn't say it's worth the effort.

Saturday night on a holiday weekend, during extensive, known construction - I would've been much more surprised if the trip had been short & uncrowded :-)
enjoy the rest of your vacation!

Too bad Disney didn't think about logistics when they laid out the property. If you could walk between the parks, hotels, and downtown Disney like you can in California crowded bus rides would not be a problem.

Sigh. Walt Disney World was built on over 43 square miles. Why on earth would they crowd everything together? So a boatload of guests occasionally isn't delayed by traffic? Stuff happens. Each park has its own zone. Most resorts are separated enough that the respective themes don't encroach on one another.

Please explain how you would jam 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, DTD, and 34 hotels plus a campground all within comfortable walking distance. WDW was planned and laid out specifically so that each area would be a separate experience; without an adjoining area intruding on it. This was the reason Walt Disney chose the Florida site- so they didn't have to deal with the crowding around the theme park that affected DLR.

Also several enormous golf courses :)

I almost included those in the list, but I figured the other poster would be OK with the "logistics" of having the golf courses separated from the theme parks. Because even she would realize that the "logistics" of hauling a heavy bag of clubs while walking to a golf course in the Florida heat would be problematic.

They did it at Disneyland. I can stay offsite and walk to the front gate at Disneyland in 10 minutes. They have just as many rides at the two parks that Disneyworld spread over 4. Downtown Disney is between the two parks. The hotel is on top of the stores are restaurants. Sure it costs more money to build like this but the benefit is that far easier to around the place.

I know exactly what the situation is like at DLR. I was just there. Correct me if im wrong, but DLR only has 3 resorts on property, no water parks, no Animal Kingdom, no campground, no golf courses or mini golf courses and a DTD that is tiny compared to the one at WDW.

I would much rather stay at CBR or CSR, with their beautiful and peaceful grounds, on site amenities, beautifully themed pools (plural) and suffer the inhumanity of taking an air conditioned bus to a park. Compared to staying in a crowded, noisy, motel on a major off site thoroughfare, with a tiny barebones swimming pool in the middle of the parking lot and homeless people on the street. Pros and cons for both resorts, I guess.

Yes there are some benefits to space. I just can't see how Disneyworld botched it up so badly that it took the OP 1 hour and 20 minutes to go three miles. That is 2.25 miles per hour. You could have walked there in half of the time.
