Please don't think I am going to preach to anyone who reads this, it is just my thoughts and observations, because I had a feeling there would be something like what happened to the Disney bus driver, happen after my last visit this month.

My DH and I had noticed while we were using the Disney buses to and from the parks that going home to the resort at night on the buses could be stressful. We saw a lot of tired people loose their cool over slight wait times or what looked like a long line.

Example one: We were taking the bus back to the Caribbean Beach resort from Magic Kingdom after Wishes, and the line was backed up out of the designated line and going past other resort lines. The people around us started complaining about the line and making rude comments about the resort and bus system. I kept thinking how easy an angry mob could form and for what purpose? We were at Disney World we were making good memories for ourselves and our children, it is a free ride people, be thankful, I sure was glad we didn't have to drive. Anyway, I spoke up loud enough for the folks to hear, "Don't worry Disney will see the back up and I'll bet there will be a few buses here in no time, they do this all the time and I have seen it work. Two buses pulled up and then two more within 5 to 10 min. tops, we were all on buses.

Example two: We were leaving DHS and the bus to our resort was there as we walked up and it filled up just before we got on. The people in from of us started complaining that they could fit more on and how awful it was they had to wait who knows how long for a bus. These were grown adults not children complaining. I spoke up again and said don't worry there will be another bus coming soon and guess what you won't have to stand on the way back to the resort, we can all sit and rest our tired legs on the way back, I am all for that!! They lady kind of grumbled something and looked away. Less that a couple of min. a bus pulled up, and as we were getting on, the same lady said that she was glad they had to wait for the next bus because she was getting a seat.

I believe it is your choice on how you want to act in these situations. People need to think about who is listening and watching their actions and choose to set a positive example instead of being the ugly tourist. We always made a point to thank the bus drivers as we exited the buses, because they do not have an easy job and we appreciate what they do for us and hope that Disney doesn't decide to charge for this great service. :)

Great post nice way to handle those situations:thumbsup2 Just one thing you do pay for the buses by staying on Disney property, Disney does nothing for free thats figured into the cost of your hotel room.

I'm guessing that most people who freak out about bus waits do not come to WDW often, or if they do, then they are not used to the buses. I often notice people running saying they're going to "miss the bus". We probably thought that too on our first trip. Now we don't freak out because we know we're not going to be stranded there, and if there's a lot of people waiting, another bus will come soon enough. We like to stay in the park long after the fireworks end, so by the time we make it to the bus stops there's usually only a handful of people waiting. Sometimes it's just us. Definitely helps as far as stress level is concerned.:thumbsup2

For all you macho types that are going to kick some butt in a Disney park,, just realize if you do it will be the last time you do.

When you are escorted out, there are two options, either the OCSO meets you and takes you to jail, or you are escorted off Disney property, not just the park, even from your hotel, never to be allowed to return again. Ever.

I am sure that would be a definite Kodak moment for your kids. :sad2:

Thank you. This was a fun thread until the advocation of violence as a solution to a problem became an issue.

I am just amazed that violence is the perceived answer in dealing with a situation.

I will go one step further.. it is built into the cost of the ticket/pass.. all tickets sold entitle the guest/ticket holder to use the Disney Transportation System.. so if you are staying in their resort..and going to their theme parks.. you are really paying twice for it  however, it is nice to look at it as free :goodvibes

The bus this this attack took place on was one at MGM (or what ever they call it now :goodvibes) going to EPCOT. Anyone could have been on that bus.. not just hotel/resort guests..

For the most part most guests and CM's have been Okay if not pleasent.

The rudest we have had was a photopass CM in the lobby at AKL ask "What's wrong with her" in a very rude manner FYI my daughter has autism. It was very apparent she has a disability after all how many 10 year olds carry around a Blues Clues preschool toy. The funny part is DH and I did not discuss it until the next day while looking at the pictures on line I mentioned it. Both of us almost told the man off but felt it was not worth upsetting the girls.

I'm sure we have gotten looks from guest before but that is everyday life for us so we just let it roll off our backs and enjoy ourselves.

I did also have a strange encounter with the CM showing the movies on the beach at BC. I mentioned we were sorry we missed the night before becasue it was raining and the girls had not seen the movie before. She looked right at me and stated "we always hope for rain". Just a weird to say to a guest.

We have also had some very magical moments. Our first time at Disney with the girls we were at Pecos Bills to get something to eat. We had not planned on staying in the park so late as the girls were just litte. To our surprise Spectro was comming down the street when we came out with our food. DH got up and stood holding the girls in the back, it was not very crowded. A couple asked if DD wanted to sit with their children. My oldest DD sat next to them and did the homecomming queen wave the entire parade. She was so tired by the end she was using her one hand to hold the arm up the other hand she was waving with.

We are on our way home from Disney after being there all week and I'm really not surprised after seeing the behavior I did this week. We are Dvc member sowe visit a lot and I was really disappointed. Blatant line cutting. Like jaw dropping. One woman jumped the entire line for Minnie mouse just walked up past everyone with her two kids. Another kid just pushed an shoved his way thru a line that my husband stopped him to tell him he was being rude. Even cast members were being rude in response. It was not a happy place. I'm not sure what can be done. Except maybe quit all the discounts

Sooooo...just because you have money to go on a nice Disney vacation doesn't mean you act like a huge jerk? :sad2: I usually find it to be the other way around.:rolleyes1

I just like to look at it as complementary since I don't have to stop and put money in the machine like the Lynx bus. I guess I don't have a complaint about paying for my resort and ticket packages when I visit or I wouldn't go. I enjoy and appreciate being able to use the bus, boats, and monorail services, but certainly don't think of them as paid services that entitles me to be rude to other passengers and CM's when things don't work smoothly. It just surprised me this last time how people acted on the buses at night. I had not experienced it the other times I had visited or maybe I was just lucky.

It would have been defensive - the PP said "Then her husband came over and slapped my husband's face knocking his Raybans across the room, breaking them." Last time I checked, getting slapped gives the slap-ee the right to return fire in kind (and maybe a bit extra to make sure the learning moment is clearly demonstrated! :cool2:).

In theory, that sounds like the right response - get slapped, punch back. However you don't know how it might really play out:

You get your rb's slapped off your face.
You punch the guy.
He punches back and it's a brawl.
Both your families are kicked out of the park, along with his extended family that includes a bunch of big dudes who proceed to gang up on you in the parking lot in front of your kids.
You end up in the ER, then in jail.
Vacation over.

So, while I believe in defending yourself, I think getting physical back rarely turns out to be the best option. Them getting kicked out of the park would be the best outcome. However, what is to keep them from getting in the next day? Do they void the entire family's tickets?

Wow...this thread is spiralling into the toilet isn't it?

I think all this thread is now proving, those whine about anything jerks we all see at the parks...yep some of them are here on the boards too.
And they still think they are right about everything yet wrong on just about everything.

(not pointing fingers as anyone, just pointing out.)

I'm glad you are not pointing fingers because, frankly, that statement could have been made by either side of the argument.

One side feels they are right...the other side feels they are right. Who's to say which one actually is. We will side on whatever side we agree with. Humans are such funny creatures.

:thumbsup2 and that is what makes us human.. not clones. We do not all have the same thoughts, opinions, morals or ethics.. we are human :goodvibes
you have those on the right side of the fence, those on the left side of the fence..then you have those on the fence.. too afraid to jump to either side...:goodvibes

And then a meteor hits the earth, and then unicorns come out of the sky...I can play what if too. If someone slaps me, lays their hands on me, whatever, I have every right to defend myself no matter where I'm at - WDW or otherwise. I'm very capable of taking care of myself. :thumbsup2

oh so people who cannot afford DVC are rude, obnoxious and troublemakers?

amen!

I feel nothing but pity for your wife. :sad2:

I guess that makes you pitiful! :rotfl:

Yes, we're lucky to have barely made it 21 years and have two great kids. It's really been a struggle with her getting to be a stay-at-home mom and take 3 or 4 vacations a year. I don't know how she does it. Let me ask her...

She says she doesn't care what you think either. Sounds like a match made in heaven doesn't it?

Having worked with the public myself in the past, those that do are seldom paid enough for the crap they have to deal with.

we do the same thing. I'm in no rush at all to join the hundreds of people walking towards the bus area.

our last 3 trips we've actually driven because it's been easier for us with dd's stroller and her falling asleep rather then having to old her and fold up a large stroller so we've always chosen to walk to our car rather then wait for the parking transit which can be just as busy with as many cranky people pushing to get on that tram so they don't have to wait for the next one which is always only a minute or two behind since they do a loop around the lot.

i've actually commented to dh that it's funny all those people running to the line up for the tram and we walk right past them and about 75% of the time we end up either getting to our parking area at the same time as the tram or not very long after

the walk to even the end of the parking at DHS and Epcot is pretty short it so much easier to walk.

MK and AK are the long walks that when we do take the tram from their we're in the park long after closing so the crowds thin out and we don't have to worry about any lines.

unfortunately the credit cards don't like us staying because we often head into the shops and there's always something that catches one of our eyes if we just kept walking we wouldn't have seen it LOL

eventually every bully gets what's coming to him - karma's a witch.

you see it all the time - those idiots who zoom past you on the highways weaving in and out of lanes just to get a head are the ones pulled over 5 10 miles down the road. or worse causing accidents

the day will come where bullies meet other bigger stronger bullies - then what - do you take a beating or "cower down in a corner"

I don't blame you.. like I said, it is nice to think of it as free.. we aren't putting money out to get onto it.. so we can "view" it as free.. or prepaid ;)
