Bummed about excursions

I am bummed. I tried to add some excursions to my reservation and everything I wanted was booked. Has anyone else had this experience? Did some more reservations open up as it got closer to the cruise?

My only knowledge on this is that the "popular" excursions book very quickly. I haven't heard much on the board about them opening up, unless someone had to cancel their cruise maybe.

It is true that the most popular ones book fast. You didn't mention which excursions you wanted to book. Is it possible to use an independent company or were these excursions for Castaway Cay?

Can anybody define what the "popular" excursions are?

Anything with dolphins! And in Sept, the glass botom boat at CC was booked by the time we got onboard.

How soon can you book excursions? Once you make final payment on your trip? Thanks!:)

60 days out if final payment has been made.

You may have a very good chance as the trip gets closer. People have until 2 days prior to sailing to cancel without monetary obligation. Believe me, they do. They also seem to 'open up' excursions on board - not sure what they're doing or how it happens, but we've been able to get our friends onto a 'popular' excursion while on the ship because of late cancellations.

I wouldn't even give up hope. :D There's still a good chance. Like others have said, look into some private companies.

Good luck. :D

So what excursions were booked ? And I'd also like to know which excursions book up fast and which ones should be made prior to the cruise ?

I know that parasailing on CC is a very popular excursion and would recommend booking at your 60 day mark. It usually fills up quickly.

If you want to swim with the dolphins, I would recommend booking very early directly with the company. I booked in Feb. for our June cruise, as my daughters wanted to do the Royal Swim on Cozumel. We were able to get three slots by going to through their company directly, rather than waiting and taking our chances on the options offered through Disney.

DoomBuggieDriver,
What company did you use to do the Royal Dolphin Swim? And what ages do you think are appropriate for that excursion?
Thanks! :D

You can book the Royal Dolphin swim with shoretrips.com
I booked our September swim earlier this year (Jan) - once again book earlier the better.

Dolphin Discovery is the name of the company and they have a couple of different dolphin swims as well as a seal lion one.

I ran into the same last year, but when we were on the boat I found out that they don't presell all resevaations. Once on board you should go to the ressie desk and try and get your excursions.

You should keep trying every few days.

When I booked my parasailing, I was told I got the last two spots. My sister and her DH also wanted to parasail, but were unable to get reservations. I called back every day, on the third day, I was able to get a reservation for her. I guess some people book more than they need, then cancel, or just chicken out.

Eastern dolphin excursion filled up within 1 hour on day 60. Nothing opened up on the many, many times I called.

I was on the 5/1 Magic. My son, nephew, and I walked up to the parasailing dock at CC at about 12:30 and was told that we could be on the next boat that left at 1. I didn't prebook because I was told that my son had to weigh 90 pounds and he only weighed 80. Nobody weighed him to let him on the boat. The only thing was that he had to go up with me. That was fine since I was a little chicken to go alone and he is only 10. We had no problem whatsoever booking excursions. They always seemed to have "4-6 more."
