Bug spray.......

what kind of snakes did you see?

we saw a baby snake of some sort, it got hit by a car or bike, right in our 300 loop. also, walking over to trails end, passing the 400 loop near a corner, a snake slithered right across our path.
as for bugs, we go in august, used skin so soft rub on stuff, i came home with one skeeter bite. bugs LOVE my fair skin and usually eat me alive, but i barely had any this last summer.
if you bring a pet, make sure they're on heartworm preventative.

SNAKES!!! WHAT SNAKES.. PLEASE TELL ME YOUR KIDDING!!:sad2:

They ARE snakes...not huge ones though ;) . Your check in papers will tell you not to touch certain kinds of snakes, you are supposed to call the outpost and they will send someone out to check it out and relocate it. We spotted a black and yellow one while we were setting up and they had someone come out but in went into the woods and he didn't catch it in time.

I've seen a couple of black racers, probably about 2 feet long, give or take a few inches. One was at site 1501 and another was in a loop we were looping around, one of the lower loops near the Settlement.

Ive never seen it myself, and find it hard to believe being so un-fort friendly....but there was mention on these boards not too long ago about the vine clearing causing rattle snakes to stir around.....thats a scary thought, but if it IS true...at least rattle snakes let you know you are in range and ticking them off

Nothing a shovel or sidearm can't handle.

Unless they are pygmy rattle snakes,,then their harder to hear.:teeth: Our DS was walking the 4-leggers on the canal at 300 loop 3 trips ago and met up with a small gator,,bout 3-4 foot . Disney had it outta there within the hour.

last summer, in the same canal, about a week before we got there...a gator almost got a little tiny dog. their site was along the canal and the dog was tied up at the table. I think i prefer the sites on the side of that loop now!

The Snakes are worse. I've never moved a cooler in my garage and found a gator hiding underneath it.

Mosquitoes don't like me for some reason, I grew up in South Florida and they just always stay away. However, I do know that during the warmer months, that wife and family always have problems with them, so I would definitely suggest bringing something if they like to take a bite out of ya ;)

No way, gator is gooooooooooooooood. Nothing like some fried gator bites and a beer to get the party started off right...lol ;)

I had fried gator bites at a place called bunkies raw bar in cocoa beach, they were great. I was looking for gators while we were at the fort, was gonna fry one up :)

That and I was trying to catch one of the wild turkeys..... they both taste like chicken :lmao:

I'm thinking of going to the vet and getting some of those pills she gives the Wonder Beagle before he goes down to repel insects - he never gets bitten. My question, though, is if I start taking them, will I have the urge to lift my leg on a tree?

Just be careful...... don't want to dislocate your hip tryin to scratch behind yer
ear;)

one from a year ago to see what we were talking about then..........

Man things haven't changed much.... :lmao:
