O.k the weather looks o.k for driving wednesday so now I just don't know which way to take.
I have printed off directions for us to get to Buffalo airport but there seems to be 3 ways....
opinions.....

I find the Fort Erie bridge really easy. You just take the 190 towards downtown Buffulo. It goes right to the exit for the airport, can't miss it. We did it in Sept. it was very straight forward. Have a great trip.

:thumbsup2

Were heading out on Wednesday but staying the night in Buffalo on Tuesday because we have a early flight on Wednesday. I was told from my bestfriend that going across the Queenston bridge is the fastest and direct route but you have one toll bridge to go across. So were taking that route. Hope everyone has a great trip.:wizard:

o.k well that is 1 for fort erie and 1 for queenston!! ahhh
I printed off the directions for fort erie thinking that way it's only 15 minutes to the airport from the border and no tolls to go through but now hearing that I'm not sure again.
Hey Disneyof3...we're staying at POR on Wednesday also....save us a room!!!!
How long will you be there for?
I can't wait.....yippeee..

:goodvibes

We will be there until the 12th.:yay: I can't wait, been planning this trip since we returned last March. We will be the Canadian family of 5 in shorts all week and white legs to match:rotfl: :rotfl:

Another vote for Fort Erie. We just did it less than a month ago, no lineups and border crossing was a breeze.

I have done both Queenston/Lewiston and Ft Erie and would vote Ft Erie. I like that once you are across you are very close to the airport. With QL you are still a ways away. That way you get to enjoy the higher speed limit and better roads a bit longer as you stay in Canada. I have also heard that Ft Erie is not as busy - which seems to be true whenever I listen to the border crossing info on long weekends.

Another vote for Ft Erie, I find the border at Queenston to be much longer, I seem to average 45-60 minutes to cross the border at Queenston and 5 minutes at Fort Erie. When I went in December no line at all at Fort Erie.

In December it took 3.5 hours from the time I landed to pick up luggage, get the car, cross the border and drive home to Guelph, I can't do that at Pearson and it is only a 45 minute drive home from Pearson. Flying from Buffalo is the way to go.

Driving time either way is rougly the same. The wait at the border is the issue. If you are crossing between 9pm and 9am it is "six of one...half a doxen of the other". If crossing between 9am and 9pm I'd take the Peace Bridge at Fort Erie everytime.

I will only take the Queenston Bridge into the states if the other two bridges fall into the Niagara River.
Spent way to much time trying to get across the span on the Queenston bridge.

Fort Erie gets my vote. Listen to WBEN 930 AM out of Buffalo they have bridge updates with the news.

The one nearest the main falls - that's Rainbow right? Where exactly is the Ft. Erie crossing? Love this board cuz I learn so many things like this!!!

thanks for all the great info.
We are definitely going Fort Erie way......that was how I was leaning but wanted some clearer info...I also wrote down the radio station ..I will check that along the way...great info.
Plus the added benefit for me is ONE more timmies stop before buffalo...yeah.

enjoy all your upcoming trips....I am ready....

I agree with the Peace Bridge in Fort Erie, it only took us about 35 mins from Niagara Falls Ontario to the airport. If you take the Rainbow or the Queenston don't forget about the toll bridge in Grand Island bring your US change. I find the Peace Bridge much more direct.

Another vote for Fort Erie and the duty free shop there is huge- love it.

just make sure to get driving directions for your return. We "tried' to take the opposite way home and got lost...;)

:thumbsup2

We just returned last night and drove both ways over Fort Erie and it was a breeze. It took us maybe 5 minutes to cross over on the 5th and maybe 10 minutes yesterday. It was great and we will cross there again.
