Budgeting for College Dorm and what's needed?

I know this is a zombie thread, but having had 5 in 4 different colleges, I have to disagree with the new advice. Dorms come with furniture, don’t buy a bed, most allow microwaves and mini fridges, buy or rent (my son’s current college provides them), don’t bring luggage, nowhere to store it, if you need to store over the summer you most likely need to find paid storage units, freshman meal plans come with way more swipes than needed, yes hangers are needed (bring clothes on then in a garbage bag). Add a 3inch mattress topper to the list.
