Budget for pressed pennies....wwyd?

What do you think a good amount is for each kiddo? We will be staying for 13 nights....
Right now, each kiddo has saved enough for 15 pressed pennies in their M&M tubes. Enough? Too much? What would you plan on?

I think that's pretty good. They will have one for each day plus a few extras.
Did you know that a few of the machines are pressed quarters? Those cost $1.25 each. I realize you may be sticking to the pennies, just wanted to mention it. Our trip a few weeks ago was the first time we did the pennies. I think we did 4 pennies and one pressed quarter in 6 days.

I think that sounds very reasonable, especially since those pressed penny machines are EVERYWHERE!! My oldest son has a collection and enjoys adding to it with every trip we do.

DD usually has a full small mini M&Ms tube, how many ever that is and she always makes a point of using every one of them. This trip I'm going to try to make a list of what we have so we don't get duplicates again.

I thought about the same thing...and possibly doing a picture on my phone of each kids' collection from last trip so they know for sure. LOL.
I wish they had the smaller m&m's tubes, but they have the larger size ones. I would say 15 (stacked 2 quarters, 1 penny, and so on) is a little over 1/2 full.

They have penny press books in the parks. I have one of those for my collection. It's small as an autograph, and easy to carry around.

You can ask at Guest Relations for a listing of all machines in each park. There's a few machines in every resort. There's character ones, attractions, and resorts.

If doing the country's like passports, they do not have machines in Japan, you need to press in the world gateway, something about not signing a treaty after WWII is what we were told.

I love the cute books they come in, we also did one quarter and one dime for the novelty,.
I would polish the pennies so they are shinny. Look for 1968 or earlier when they were really copper.
It makes a nice imprint and look.
Thansk for the info about a guide to all the machines, we just kept a look out every where we went. My fav, Steam boat willie under the train station near stroller rental.

Well, if your kids just want to grab a few pennies, that works. If they want to start a real collection, they'll want more money available. Almost every machine has 3 or 4 penny designs. On our honeymoon, I wasn't planning on collecting pressed pennies, but I just thought they were cool and picked up a few here and there. Over two weeks, my wife and I spent about $60 without even trying. If you want, you can look at a list of all the coins available (and even see pictures of them) at http://www.presscoins.com/ . This way you can decide if 15 pennies each would be enough for them.

Here is the site that will tell you where all the pressed coin machines are in WDW and resorts. http://www.presscoins.com/ There are many types of cents or pennies from which to choose. Copper cents, pre 1982 "pennies", are preferred by most collectors. They are solid copper unlike newer cents which are copper plated zinc. When pressed, zinc cents can show "streaks" or silver smearing that shows through the copper plating. Have Fun

The one we have has 56 spots for pressed pennies/dimes and another 9 spots that will also hold pressed nickels/quarters so 65 spots in all. It's a red book from DLR and cost about $10 two years ago.

Things just keep going up as we got our pressed penny books six years ago for $5.00 they were deep blue then have about 8 full then also got a quarter one full. This all started with one...that got out of hand My brother in law thought so silly and then seen what fun I was having and he ended up with more than I did. at the time you could go to GR and they would print you off a list of where all machines were at as well. Is a fun thing to do.

I bought DS a book in Jan and it was $3.95. We had brought enough for 25 and he used all of those plus wee ended up busting into my roll of quaters in case we wanted to do laundry. So I am thinking 15 might not be enough. Would the kids go for a family collection?

That's about what my niece paid a few years ago for one at WDW.

I think 20 should be plenty. That's two a day almost. My niece got one each day (about 14 total).

I know it wasn't over $10 though. I know WDW had similar ones as well. DD's book is almost filled up after two Disney trips and a few coins from the local zoo and amusement park. I am amazed at all the Disney pressed pennies selling on eBay though. I'd much rather go to Disney to collect them!
