Ok, so chances are this has been asked in the past, but if you search for either the words "budget" or "diet", whoa Mama, do you get a lot of threads...

I'm dieting, that's cool. I'm trying to have some clue at the end of the month where "all the money went." That's super cool. And I have this belief that the two don't HAVE to be mutually exclusive.

So I'm going to ask this question in both the WISH and budget forums... What are your best budget-friendly diet tricks and your best diet-friendly budget tricks?

I'll save someone the trouble of typing it-- Yes, I could "eat the same food but less of it!" (But that makes for much unhappiness-- if Mama ain't happy, ain't NOBODY happy!!!)

I thought I had a winner tonight-- I love egg beaters scrambled up with TONS of vegetables... low cal, high protein, high fiber, and a veggie serving... the problem is, ever since we learned about battery cages, we only buy cage free organic or free-range eggs, and they are EXPENSIVE! I had a bunch in the fridge because I found a free-range farmer with good prices at the farmers market the other day, so I took a dozen of those eggwhites and scrambled them with my veggies.

Well, it seemed wasteful to throw half of the eggs (the yolks) away, so I thought I could fry up one regular egg with lots of extra yolks, over easy, because my little one LOVES her "dipdip eggs" with toast, and both my girls are calorie furnaces, so the extra calories would be a plus for them...

Yeah, no dice. She said it looked "gross." So now it's dog food...

Anybody got any great ideas out there? I wanna be lighter when we go to Disney next year, but I want to be able to AFFORD Disney next year!

I understand where you are coming from! Many healthy foods are expensive! A major thing that works for me is shopping at Sam's club for large quanities of fresh produce. I buy 5 pounds bag of brocoli for 5 bucks and make stir frys. I also buy 2 pounds bags of baby carrots for 3 bucks and a big bag of salad for 3 bucks. They have great deals on fruit too, like 6 pounds of apples for 6 dollars and 2 pounds of strawberries for 4 dollars. Another thing I always get at Sam's is a rotisseri chicken for 5 bucks. The chicken can last me several meals and is great!
