Usually my DH does the driving and I'm the co-pilot... that system works well for us :goodvibes

This time, however, we are actually considering letting me drive... at least some of the time :drive:

My question is: do we need to declare me as an additional driver when we pick up the car? I read the policies on Budget's website, and saw that as his spouse, we will not be charged an additional driver fee. I'm wondering if spouses are automatically included, or do we need to fill out additional paperwork?

I'm guessing, at the least, I will have to produce my driver's license. The wording on Budget's website regarding this policy was just unclear to me.

Thanks to anyone who can enlighten me on the procedure for additional drivers. :)

Yes, you do have to declare at the time of rental. And you will need your license. The wording is confusing to say the least.
I would also print out the rules and take them with me. I have heard of spouses being charged the extra driver rate in Orlando. It would be good to be armed with the information.

Thanks for the heads up on having the rules with me, disneyldwjr. Just one more thing to argue with the rental agent about :sad2:

Good news is: if we actually rent the car in my name, I can now look for additional discounts that I am qualified for, but that my DH is not. :thumbsup2

Let's hope you don't have to argue with anyone, who needs that? :)
LOL, on the discounts.

Yea, about the discounts... it's like my eyes have been open to "a whole new world" :teeth: I lowered my rate by $40
