No, North Point Mall is in Alpharetta which is just over the county line from the Duluth/Gwinnett area. Alpharetta is on the north east side of Atlanta
http://maps.google.com/maps?client=...ocal_result&ct=image&resnum=1&ved=0CAoQnwIwAA They may not be super close but they are only 20 min away.
They might only be 20 minutes away if you know where you're going but in this case you have people coming from 90 minutes south and 18 hours north. For them to find it they would have to go south on 85, west on 285 then north on 400. I wouldn't do that to anybody

For them it's best to stay in a relatively straight line--Alpharetta/Roswell, Perimeter or Buckhead are all in an area where you can get on one road and stay on it until you get to your destination, whether it be Turner Field or Northpoint Mall.
I have to disagree about the food at AG, it is out of this world. Dh and I don't even have children and will drive the 1 1/2 hours just to eat there. There is also a
Disney Store in that mall

.
Northpoint Mall has a Macy's, Sears and Dillards as their anchor stores. Its food court is okay and there are also a few very good restaurants nearby (Sweet Tomatoes, Bahama Breeze, Rays Killer Creek, etc.) It is at exit 9 on GA 400. A bit further south at exit 5 there is Perimeter Mall, which has a Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, Macys and Dillards. Their food court is excellent. If you bid on a hotel in the Perimeter zone odd are you will be within 5 minutes distance from this mall.
If you stay on GA 400 heading south towards Atlanta, exit 1 which is right after the tollbooth (50 cents) is where Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza are located. This is also where you would find a majority of the Priceline Buckhead hotels. The stores there are Neiman Marcus, Saks, Bloomingdales, Nordstom and high-end smaller shops like Versace, Tiffany, Louis Vuitton, Jimmy Choo, etc.
Lenox has a good food court, Phipps is the worst. If you want to shop you'll have plenty of choices.
