Does anyone know if they changed the seat restraints on Big Thunder? Are they still lap bars. My son got an ICD (internal cardiac defibrillator) this summer and he can't ride anything with an over the shoulder restraint. I can't remember what Space Mountain has but he can't ride that or Screamin anyway because of their intensity but we are trying to figure out if their is anything else we need to prepare him that he can't ride.

Space mountain has individual lap bars that go over your knees. So does Goofy's Sky School. Screamin is the only one I've seen with an over the shoulder restraint. Not sure what BTMR will have. I would assume either a lap bar again or seat belts. I have some friend who have been on it already. I'll ask them.

The trains are the same as they were. No change in lap bar, place to put your stuff, size of the car, etc...

If the intensity of Space is an issue, then you may have an issue with BTMRR. Space feels faster because it's in the dark, but they are both about 35mph. At least the old version of BTMRR was reported to be 35mph. I doubt the new one will be much different.

While the track was "not changed", not sure how, but the last big drop is not as "big". In all, the trains are MUCH smoother, as in you really don't hear them coming when standing at the exit.

I'm not exactly sure what the difference is but one of nathan's cardiologists is very familiar with Disney so she went through the entire list and said which ones were probably ok and which ones weren't. Of course i would prefer he didn't ride any but he's 15- his doctors have told us if we restrict him too much he will rebel against everything including his meds- and his meds are keeping him alive,

My wife has an ICD. She had put in when she was 18 or 19. We have been going to Disneyland since she was 20 and the only ride that was iffy was California screaming and honestly she said their is no problem with the ride. She just has to hold right at the end when it breaks.
