BSM Question

Hi All -

I'm trying to take my husband to a nice restaurant in Hollywood and was planning to do this on the Day 2 for the afternoon on our own. Do you think it would be ok if we plan to go around 6-7pm? What would we miss, if anything? Feel free to PM me so we don't ruin the magic for everyone

The evening of day two is "on your own" time.

ABD my have options for you that evening that I won't disclose, but you may have to make a choice between what is being offered and your dinner plans.

I realize this isn't much help...but I think if you choose to go to dinner 6 or 7 pm would work.

I agree that 6 or 7 would be a good time frame. However, on the evening of day two we weren't hungry until after 8 pm.

You get a pretty big lunch at Tam O'Shanter on Day 2. We took part in the optional activity on Day 2 and after returning from Walt's Barn, we didn't have a lot of time before the optional activity started. I think it was no more than 90 minutes tops. Just enough time to grab a salad at Johnny Rocket's in the Hollywood and Highland Centre. Dinner that night for us consisted of Salad, ice cream and popcorn.

Hrmmm...we were thinking about going to Yamashiro for dinner or at least drinks because I thought we'd be on our own...I didn't realize there were potential optional activities! I've been to the hollywood area a few times before (though Jen hasn't,) and we will be staying in that area for a few days prior anyways.

For those that have done optionals, do you think it was worth it not to plan anything that night and do those?

Only thing I know for sure is I'm not interested in the wax museum ha!

Hrmmm...we were thinking about going to Yamashiro for dinner or at least drinks because I thought we'd be on our own...I didn't realize there were potential optional activities! We did the Wax Museum after the welcome dinner. If I was to do this trip again, I would skip this optional activity. As for the optional activities on the full day in Hollywood, that depends on what you would be getting to do. Our optional activities for that evening consisted of an ice cream social at Ghiradelli's (I'm not passing up free ice cream) followed by tickets to see Lady and the Tramp which was playing at the El Capitan that week. I would totally do these activities again.

The only day we didn't take part in the optional activities was the day we were at California Adventure. Our optional activities that afternoon were tickets to see Aladdin on Stage and to see the Frozen Sing-A-Long. We had seen the Broadway Aladdin a few months earlier when it played here in Toronto and we are "Frozen"ed out so we opted to spend the afternoon hitting some of the major attractions that we wanted to do, like California Screaming.

Maybe we will wait and see what the plan is when we get there, and try for the movie after the welcome dinner only if it isn't otherwise a planned activity Can always go to Yamashiro for a drink after the movie!

Just be aware that they don't tell you what the optional activities are until you are getting ready to "break" for the day. We didn't find out about Ghiradelli's and the movie until we were on our way back from Walt's Train Barn (we did this as an activity because we had to do Jim Hensen the next day). Like with Aladdin and Frozen, they didn't tell us until we were done "touring" for the day.

Hmm OK. I guess we will wait still and see. I just want to use our time at that end of the trip as efficiently as possible!

personally I wouldn't plan anything - the 'optional' activities vary from adventure to adventure and which day on the adventure. As you say the option to go for a drink at some point with no commitment would work for me but other than that.... Coming from the UK we were pleased to slip in a visit to 'in and out' on the evening of day 2 - but that was after our optional activities, one of which included food!

I admit the optional activities are throwing me for a bit of a loop! Without knowing what they are, I can't tell if I'll care about them or not heh. Only thing I am truly fixed on is seeing something at the Capitan tho

When we went, we wanted to see a movie at the el Capitan theatre so I bought VIP passes ahead of time to see Inside Out the morning before our Adventure began. And then, surprise!- we received tickets to the same movie that night. I actually thought that worked out fine. I skipped the movie that night and brought DS back to the room for an early (well, earlier) night without either of us feeling like we were "missing out". DH and DD went again and enjoyed themselves. We had been in the balcony for the first show and they sat up front for the second so they had a different view of the pre-show. I was SURE that we wouldn't get surprise tickets because no movie was showing on Monday (first full day of the Adventure when it sounded like most had that activity) but we ended up with tickets the very first night and did the Wax Museum the next night. I thought it all worked out fine though. Have a great trip!

I second this!!!! We had so much fun at the optional activity on the first full day!! Tons of laughter!!!!
