Brooklynn takes Bella to meet Cinderella! Page 242 Downtown Disney

I've only posted a few times, but I had to come out of my lurkdom to say that Rafael is the BEST server in all of WDW. My 4-year-old son and I are going for a mom-and-boy trip in 34 days (!!!) and he says he wants to see, in this order, Buzz, Rafael the funny ketchup guy, and Stitch. I just hope beyond hope that he's working the day we have our ADR.

And I'm going to use my little space here to share one other little story... my trip with my son is on September 16, but I was just slated for a trade show (I work in Marketing/PR) on September 11... at Coronado Springs. No seriously!!! I'm staying there two nights, and then could only get an early morning Monday flight back on the 14th :rolleyes1... which allows me one night at MeMom's beloved Pop. I made a separate res just to see what I've been reading about first hand. So I have Friday through Monday for work, fly back on Monday, have one day left, and then fly back Wednesday. The guy at the Alamo counter is going to think I'm weird in the head.

And thanks, MeMom and Jill, for such sharing so much of yourselves and your joy. It is so much fun to read!

Wishing you lots of pixiedust:

It took us 3-4 months the first time and 5-6 months the second time!

And the third one will be a surprise, like Mop's little princess! :dance3:

MeMom, I totally understand about the meetings and time in your room -- in the four days of pre-planning we had, I was able to be in my room a grand total of two afternoons!

Love your Celebrate! bulletin board -- I think I will have to copy it a little and do a Celebrate Reading! bulletin board! You always have the best ideas for Disney classrooms -- I still use my pins as bulletin board tacks for all the teacher stuff I have up by my desk! :goodvibes

We have time in our rooms this afternoon. :yay:
I took pictures of my Disney touches this morning, so when I get home, I'll put them up on here.

I want back to Orlando but Dh calls it a "mickey mouse town" and doesn't like it. Tampa we have friends there. Also it's colder. And I don't know. O.K maybe being closer to Disney might have something to do with it:rotfl: We are also thinking Atlanta we were supposed to move there a few years ago but couldn't get the house sold.
What grade do you teach? I was a K-8 art teacher until i got laid of a few months ago.
Thank you! I'll tell her memom from the dis says Happy Birthday:upsidedow

I have been in third grade for many years, but I happily got a 'demotion' to second grade, where there is no TCAP testing. However, we were informed that TCAP for second grade is coming in the next few years, so I guess I'll be asking for another demotion then!

I know you might feel sad about your dd starting school. but she will love it! It's always harder for the parents then the kids. All the dis kids are starting school and one of mines starting middle school. Which is hard for me. I feel so old. I want another baby too but 43 is to old. I'm going to put pictures of my kids when they were babies up. I don't know how to scan so i'll probally take pictures of the pictures:rotfl:

Just hold out, and then your babies bring home babies of their own. That's pretty fun, too! :goodvibes

i don't know....i've spent the last 13 years NOT trying! :lmao:

thanks! well, i'd be happy with 3 months. we are planning a disney trip for december 2010 and i'm thinking if i have a baby by july 2010 i should be good. that means i have to get pregnant by november. :teacher: let's just hope mother nature cooperates with my vacation plans. :rotfl:

Well, at not quite four months, Bella was no trouble on our summer trip. She just rode along in Jill's carrier thing and slept a good bit of the time. Friends of ours who are also Disney crazy took their second daughter at five weeks old.

My beautiful, smart, fun 5 year old starts kindergarten on Mon. She is ready but like Rinky I am a little sad and we have full day here. . I do have a smaller one. She will go to Preschool 3 days a week this year.

Just think of all the afternoons she'll run home and tell you about her very exciting day! I well remember the day Jill started kindergarten. :cutie:

I know she will love it and I am very happy for her. I used to teach kindergarten and I remember the mothers leaving on the first day crying while their kids ran off to play and didn't seem to mind at all. I felt so bad for the moms. I have a feeling that will be me in two weeks! I think it is sad to me b/c I realize how fast she got to this point, and I have a feeling that the rest of her years as a child will move even faster with her in school. This is such a sweet age and I just want to freeze time for a while. It just seems that things move faster than they did when I was the kid!

You'll have to share pictures of her with her little backpack or holding up one of her papers and show us how proud she is to be such a big girl!

Oh I am already signed up for EVERYTHING! That poor teacher will be so sick of me by the end of the first week! She has some awesome feild trips planned for them and I will be there with bells on for ALL of them. And one of them is a trip to Disney on Ice!:cool1: Can't wait for that. But honestly, I can't complain. We were able to refinance our house (those low rates cut our payment big time!) this summer and get our car paid off so that we can send her to the Methodist school here which is FABULOUS!! Our public schools are a nightmare!:scared1::scared1::scared1: So I am VERY blessed and excited about her year to come. It just came too fast!

Disney on Ice for a field trip? Hmmm...I wonder if I can get away with that?!?!?

Very glad to have you along. Feel free to interject more often. Rafael was great. He made friends with everyone. I pretty much ate and went outside to rock Bella to sleep, but the whole group said they had a lot of fun with him. I hope he is there when you go!

I wish we could have a workshop down there!

I forgot to add that I think Atlanta would be a good place to live. At least you have some seasons there, as opposed to Tampa. I remember Christmas being a bummer in St. Pete. We would come to TN to visit relatives and have a real holiday with some cold weather! Atlanta is far enough south to be warm, and it's plenty close for quick Disney trips!

The Wilderness Lodge photos are gorgeous. That's my dream deluxe. Someday... :)

You will truly love it when that day comes. We felt very welcomed there. They show movies out on the beach, too. The kids will like that. They were showing Bedtime Stories one night we were there. You can sit out on lawn chairs and watch the EWP. It was nice!

I just saw that the Travel Channel is showing Disney shows this afternoon, for anyone who is interested.

I'm a little late to join the party, but the Mickey countdown was cute! My daughter prints out a picture from the internet of for example "Splash Mountain", makes it bigger, and then buts sticky notes on it. My son and daughter rotate between who has to take off the stickey notes. (Sometimes doesn't work out too well...)

However, the traffic in Atlanta is horrible. Or anywhere within 250 miles of Atlanta. :rotfl:

We are very glad to have you along! I see you are going to Disney World in just a few days - lucky you! I hope you have an awesome time!

How old are your kids? I bet they are quite excited! If you do a trip report, let us know, and if not, feel free to share some of your favorite pictures here with us.

I though some of you might be interested in seeing the Disney touches I have strewn about my classroom. Keep in mind, it's a big room, so it's not 'slap you in the face Disney', but rather here and there around the room.

My outside bulletin board with the Celebrate theme.

See how cute Stitch is.

Just inside the door, Jiminy Cricket will be sharing phrases of friendship and good character each week.

Handy Manny will teach us Spanish words and phrases.

classroom08-09004.jpg

Chip and Dale will keep us aware of the latest news.

Captain Hook adorns the homework board.

Mickey, in his role as Woody, will spend the year rounding up good work.
I have to fix the lasso. It kind of fell.

On a back bookshelf, three friends sit ready to read.

They are Brooklynn's, so whenever she wants them back, they are welcome to go home. Right now, Jill is probably glad just to have them not in the mix of a thousand other toys.

Nemo reminds students of some important things to check when turning in work.

A new bag that they had at the Disney Store. They were $2.50. I got one for me and one for Jill, of course.

Makes you want to go to Disney World in October, doesn't it?

Anyway, this is what I'll surround myself with this year. The rest of the room is generic classroom - desks, dictionaries, Math posters, word games, etc. - all the normal stuff. My little touches of happiness will keep me going from trip to trip!

Your room looks great. One of the teachers at my kids school had a giant Mickey Head cut out in the hallway. She then made CM name tags and had the students name on them. Very cute.

Your classroom looks fantastic! I'd love to be in your class!! :) And that Halloween bag is adorable. I must have one! ::yes::

What great Disney touches. I can only hope that I see some tomorrow in Avery's classroom. Guess I could give her some if I don't see any LOL:rolleyes1

Memom..I would have loved to have a 2nd grade teacher like you!! My second grade teacher let us play games all day long all year long...which as a kid was really cool...but when our summer got messed with...not soo cool!! Needless to say she was fired and never taught again (We were her first class out of college!) SO to have a teacher like you that cared would have been really nice!!

Your room is so awesome!! It looks great. I love all of your little touches. :goodvibes

I have a very small cubicle at work and I have many Disney touches crammed into there.

Disney on Ice for a field trip? Hmmm...I wonder if I can get away with that?!?!?

ABSOLUTELY!!! They are being educated in the arts!:rotfl: Sounds good to me anyway! Think your principal would go for that?;) I think almost anything goes for a kindergarten field trip. We always took our kind. to the pumpkin farm and that was a just for fun trip IMO. But I do believe that there is something to learn in every experience. I'm sure many of those kids will never see another live show other than that field trip. I think all experiences lead to personal growth, not just what you learn in a textbook. That's why I hated those standardized tests. They forced us to teach by the book and not "waste" any time on "outside of the box" learning. Such a shame.:sad2:

So many great, creative Disney touches. I'm sure your students receive the same kind of attention you give to the details of your classroom.:goodvibes My favorites are Mickey Woody lassoing homework, and the celebrate bulletin board. So cute!!!

Hi MeMom and Jill! You probably won't remember me, but I used to post on your earlier TRs. I read your Spring Break TR and then caught up on this one. I feel like I know you and your family. What a talented, loving family!:flower3: I just can't believe how big princess:Brooklynn has gotten and the arrival of princess:Bella who is just as sweet as her proud big sis!

Just wanted to say Hi and that I'm joining in! If you're interested, you can click the link in my signature and see some of my photos from a Disney photography trip with my Mom last September. I did go with my entire family this past December (but I haven't gotten any pics up yet) and will be going with my son and my Mom this January- staying at Pop! Thanks for letting me join in!

I think your classroom looks fabulous! Still doesn't make me want to go back though!:lmao: Your kids are very lucky to have you for a teacher (even though that probably won't dawn on them!). I would have been very happy in that class when I was in second grade. My second grade teacher was a drill sargeant!:rotfl:

MeMom, your classroom looks awesome! It makes me want to go back to school! Granted, I always get the urge in September to buy new pencils and paper...weird...

And congrats to everyone one all their cutie-pie little ones! :)

I love your Disney touches through out your classroom. Great Job, fun for the kids, and great memories to help you get through long days.
