I am hoping it was purely an oversight - I don't know the date on a regular day, let alone on vacation.
When my cousin came over she couldn't understand why it was so expensive so I told her it was because it fell over July 4th. Whats that? she asks.
See, everyone knows that America has an 'Independence Day' but they don't necessarily know the date. How many Americans know when St.Georges day is?
Not me. I don't even know what St. George's Day is.


He would totally do something like that on the 4th - to be annoying/crude.
no pleading ignorance to that one. This is one holiday that involves both nations, but we celebrate it - they don't. We just need to be respectful of a country's national holiday if we visit at that time. 
I think it was an oversight on their part, got there a few days before, maybe didn't realise the date til they had actually left their room.
