Bristol Palin and DWTS results

That's why I never get too involved in these shows more than just enterainment and never have a favorite. I personally think that it should be all based on judges scores. I would actually watch the show more if I felt it was based on skill.
One of the shows, So You Think You Can Dance, (I think ;)) has the audience narrow down to the bottom two boys and girls and then the judges vote for the one they want to keep.

That being said, I have enjoyed the way that DWTS is done until now. I think there are some loopholes (like allowing people to make up email addresses and vote 300 times for one person) that will need to be closed.

really? I have to spell this out for you? "You truly can't follow the discussion....I didn't say she said it - I was making a different point that you apparently can't follow so it would be a waste of my time to beat it to death......

this is fun, but it isn't that fun....

sorry....

Wow, I've gotten points for saying much less, under the premise I was being sarcastic or snarky or maybe even a personal attack. :confused3

Come on people, it's just a dumb show.

Absolutely.

love that show - you are correct - much more fair!:)

on a positive note, I gotta go ! Will check back tonight!!!!!:)

Way to go Bristol! There are all kinds of STARS! To have that many fans, she might not have been a star, but she is now!;)

My Momma raised me not to tattle though! :thumbsup2

And I've gotten points for WAY less than that too.:surfweb:

You're right about that. They just pick folks they think will bring them viewers/ratings, it really has nothing to do with being "a star".
True that. I think ABC got everything they wanted out of choosing Bristol and much, much more. I'm sure the ABC execs are ecstatic!

well - either she can't follow or she is being disingenuous to bait me - I apologize for being snarky, but I don't appreciate baiting.....

I will keep it under control tonight = promise!!!!!:)

I was single when I had my daughter- and I was a damn good first time Mom. I was proud of the way I grew up fast and took care of my daughter.

You very much should be proud. It is not easy to raise a child as a single mom and Bristol seems to be doing a good job with that. She is also lucky to have a loving and supportive family.
I think that it is sad when people can't show compassion for someone who made a 'mistake', although I never think of any child as a 'mistake'. This is not an uncommon occurance for many teenagers. Their life might be easier if the birth of their first child arrived later in life under other circumstances, but the child should never be viewed as anything less than a blessing.

Very true!!! seems like most people on here disagree though, it's really sad. I cry tears for the Dis sometimes.

I don't think its a coincidence that she is a contestant this season being that it was an election year. ABC knows who is going to get them viewers. Reminds me of last season when Kate was on.

You mean right after her divorce?

You mean right after her divorce?

Yes. I'm not sure if it was after or during but I know it was when all that was going on. I don't know how long she lasted, but I think she had more people who hated her than people who love her mother

I have nothing against Bristol. However, I believe she is being advanced for reasons other than her dancing abilities. I also think it is unfair to the other contestants who are competing without the same advantages as Bristol.

DWTS and other "talent" shows are not the simple talent competitions that the audience is led to believe.

Of course Bristol should be proud of the way she is raising her child (I assume she's doing a good job of it -- don't really make it a point to research that kind of thing). But there are many, many other young women out there who have done the same thing. It isn't exactly something that gives a person "star" status, or an accomplishment along Steve Wozniak's lines (which was the point of this whole tangent, wasn't it? ;) )

Leave it to the DIS to try to twist a comment like that into "a child is never a mistake". :rotfl2: :sad2:

Apparently, the execs of DWTS felt she had enough 'star' status to pursue her as a contestant on the show. I'm not sure how her situation is any different from others who have appeared on the show. I don't think any of the Bachelor/Bachelorettes came to the show with any particular accomplishments that deemed them a 'star', but it was still enjoyable watching them dance.

The show should be named Dancing With the used to be Stars, reality tv wannabe stars and other people we know will bring the ratings stars! Very few people on the show are currently stars and they use this show to resuscitate their careers or branch out into main stream stardom. Bristol is well known and no different from some of the other people I had heard about even less about before the show :confused3.

Excellent point.

Thats seems a bit harsh don't you think? I mean really, she's a young adult who made some mistakes. I guess some people aren't as perfect, or mature as others :rolleyes1

Nobody is perfect, but who gets to be a show or called a "star" because of their mistakes? She decided to be on TV. People on TV get to be talked about all the time. Bristol is only "acomplishments" are being Palin's daughter, being an unwed teen mother, and being a mediocre dancer on a show. There's really nothing else she's known for. She wants to be a "celebrity", and be on the spotlight. That comes with a lot of scrutiny, especially for those who are know because of who they are, and not for some talent, ability, or outstanding work.

:confused3:confused3 Wow some people take this way to seriously. Do you guys dislike her so much because of who her mom is??? Makes me wonder about some!! Poor girl has been thrust in the spotlight because of her mother and really can't catch a break with some!! If we are going to start picking out the faults of others and the poor choices they make let’s not forget Brandy's speeding and reckless driving caused a women to die!!! Really I think the Tea Party movement has better things to do than sit around making sure the call in a vote for Bristol.

But Brady is not famous, on the show because of her mistakes. She actually has a careeer. Maybe Bristol was "thrust in the spotlight", but she certanly likes it and now seeks the spotlight and fame.

Really, is it so hard to understand why people would dislike someone who gets on a show and the label "star" without ever doing anything extraordinary or noteworthy, and who undeservedly made it to the finals? This would be the general feeling towards anyone in the same position.

Remember Cloris Leachman? When the competition everyone seemed to love her, but once better dancers were tossed out while she stayed people turned on her, and the feeling grew worse with every week she remained on the show. Can you imagine the outcry had she made it to the finals? And at least Cloris had enough merit to be there. But Bristol? she doesn't have a carreer, hasn't done anything that sets her appart from anyone, and on top of that made it to the finals when others deserved it much more.

As for the Tea Parties, just go to any conservetive site, there a big push to vote for Bristol, and vote often for her. Looks like yes, they have nothing better to do.
