Bringing Wine into Resort?

If you will be there during the food and wine festival there is usually a fairly large wine shop set up at the festival center at Epcot.

unfortunately we wont be this year! We were/are supposed to go next October to it. We ended up booking Thanksgivign week this year to see the Osbourne lights one last time.

If someone wants to buy me a bottle while @ F&W festival, stash it in a safe place in a bush for when i get there, just tell me where and a reward could be in order! LOL

Where abouts is the Once Upon a Vine sold in Disney?

We got it at Screen Door Mercantile at the Boardwalk Resort and at the gift shop at either the Yacht or Beach Resort. We enjoyed it so much, I ordered two bottles through Disney Floral and Gifts as part of DH's birthday celebration (we leave on Saturday ). I'm hoping to get the sparkling wine again once we arrive.

very nice i will keep my eyes peeled! safe trip and enjoy! I ordered something through the Disney Floral and Gifts yesterday, but I didnt opt to add wine to it - figured I would just bring my own which it seems I may and also grab another bottle while down there. We are only there 4 days the week of Thanksgiving unless Airfare drops tremendously (doubtful.)

either way enjoy and thanks for the help!

I've tried to search and couldnt find a definitive answer but I am wondering, if i packed wine into my checked luggage - is this OK? First time staying on Disney property so I wasnt sure if they check your bags or what have you for this. just looking to have some drinks in the resort at the end of the night instead of paying $10/glass LOL

I've had beer and vodka. As long as you're not obnoxiously drunk on the balcony or offering it to minors, Disney won't care.

Southwest does not allow liquids on carry-on over 100mL.

FWIW, no airline allows liquids beyond the 311 baggie or medical liquids to be carried on the plane. It's a TSA thing, not an airline thing.

There are so many products to protect bottles in checked bags! There's a bag made all on its own for it, called the WineCheck. There are "wine diapers" which protect the bottle and then have absorbent material inside to protect things *outside* the "diaper" in case the padding isn't enough. There are inflatable products...just all sorts of things to put around your bottles to protect them inside of luggage. We had our bottle of guavaberry rum, a surprise purchase in Sint Maarten, do just fine in our hard-sided case, wrapped in clothing. (that's not what our intention was...we wouldn't have purposely done it like that, but we didn't expect to buy that rum!)

I own these. They travel very well. My step mother dared me to sneak booze on a cruise so I took one with vodka for me and one with bourbon for my dad. I came back with one full bottle. I'm not much of a drinker, so I probably would not bother with it again. However I have taken it on a couple of other trips including Disney because I'd be flying and didn't want to have glass bottles in my luggage. I just screwed the lids on tight and double bagged it in Ziplocks. Didn't leak a all. I highly recommend them.

Those are hilarious! I've also seen photos where people put a little bit of blue or green food coloring in clear liquor and then poured it into a mouthwash bottle.

The wine will survive checking it. You can either acquire wine shippers (google it) or wrap it well in a towel and then put inside a sturdy plastic bag. I've done both many times from California with no problems. I've even watched a 12 bottle box of wine (Styrofoam shipper inside cardboard box ) get tossed about 6 feet onto the luggage conveyor with no problems.

We don't bring wine, but usually a bottle of rum to keep in the room and use as we please, and put it in our suitcase just fine. We wrap it in a ton of clothes and put it in a plastic bag that we seal it tight with packing tape. Haven't had a bottle break on us yet. (knocking on wood)

A, ahem, 3 or 5 liter box of wine in your checked suitcase will make out just fine. Put it inside a plastic garbage bag that you can use for a laundry bag at the resort and you will fine. Not that I ever did this, of course. Nope, it wasn't me, you can't prove anything.

Hmm, loved reading this thread!
Curious and so travel dumb about cruises but what is and why the restriction about bringing it on board?
Customs?

Booze is a huge money maker for cruise lines. Honestly I have seen more drunk people on vacation on my two cruises where they charge double digits for drinks than in Vegas where the drinks are free.

They do allow some wine, like 2 bottles per person, but they charge a corkage fee if you drink it in the restaurants.

They do now have a service where you can order it for your room but there's a big markup.

If you buy liquor in port they take it from you and keep it in storage until you debark.

They also limit you to how much water or soda you bring on board. I bought water and some soda for mixers from them as a package, slight markup but I didn't want to lug a bunch of stuff on board.

We usually buy a couple of bottles of wine while at WDW (specifically Epcot at the German, France and Italy Pavilions). We will pour the wine in our Mickey Mugs and then stroll down the path from POFQ to POR for a nice relaxing walk at night. Every now and again stopping and sitting on a bench to enjoy the weather. :)

On a trip I bite the bullet and bring a box of wine in my checked luggage. I have never, ever had a problem. I wrap the unopened box in a towel and put it in one of those ginormous zip lock bags. I have never had one single issue

We have gotten all of the "Once Upon a Vine" bottles at Jackson Square at POFQ. I would guess you could get it at any of the hotels little markets though. If not I know they have it at Epcot also.
