Bringing Wine into Resort?

A, ahem, 3 or 5 liter box of wine in your checked suitcase will make out just fine. Put it inside a plastic garbage bag that you can use for a laundry bag at the resort and you will fine. Not that I ever did this, of course. Nope, it wasn't me, you can't prove anything.

I know nothing, I saw nothing, I heard nothing!:hippie:

Booze is a huge money maker for cruise lines. Honestly I have seen more drunk people on vacation on my two cruises where they charge double digits for drinks than in Vegas where the drinks are free.

They do allow some wine, like 2 bottles per person, but they charge a corkage fee if you drink it in the restaurants.

They do now have a service where you can order it for your room but there's a big markup.

If you buy liquor in port they take it from you and keep it in storage until you debark.

They also limit you to how much water or soda you bring on board. I bought water and some soda for mixers from them as a package, slight markup but I didn't want to lug a bunch of stuff on board.

If I am not mistaken, the cruise doesnt allow you to take back your booze from the Duty Free stores because of how much money they would lose! Imagine how much money they would lose if you bought one of those big bottles of Grey Goose?! that would be enough to last me a whole week on a ship! Not sure what the DW would have to drink, shes on her own there LOL

We usually buy a couple of bottles of wine while at WDW (specifically Epcot at the German, France and Italy Pavilions). We will pour the wine in our Mickey Mugs and then stroll down the path from POFQ to POR for a nice relaxing walk at night. Every now and again stopping and sitting on a bench to enjoy the weather. :)

This actually sounds very nice! Great tip, i think we may just have to try this out!

Our favorite time is dinner at Narcosses and then bringing the left over usually 1/2 bottle of wine to the beach and sit and watch Wishs.

On my 2014 Alaskan Cruise {Carnival) I was given the option to pre buy bottles of liquor from the cruise line at about a 175% to 200% markup. It was the same area that you could preorder gift packages for the cabins or food items like cheese and crackers or bakery treats. They would be delivered to my cabin sometime during the first day. I decided not to buy liquor but did buy a 'mixer' package that had an 8 pack of water, 6 pack of ginger ale and a 4 pack of cranberry juice.

Items bought during the cruise at the onboard shop were indeed held till the end of the cruise. I did go look but as I said I'm just not much of a drinker so I declined to buy it.

$75 bucks for a bottle of vodka is what brought up the discussion of people sneaking on liquor and led to my step mother daring me to sneak on the bourbon for my dads habitual nightcap. After some research I settled on the shambooze bottles. I found it amusing and my mom cracked up because I'm generally more of a rule follower, but I was just flabbergasted at the markup.

When I lived down in Jacksonville and drove I brought all the beer and wine for the family who was majority flying in and even with a case of beer they had no issues and took the stuff to our room. I will probably pack a bottle of wine for my upcoming trip with a wine opener.

Bottle opener - we bought a bottle of wine at AKL gift shop, and went up to the room. I called down to the lobby to ask if they could send someone up with a bottle opener - they did!! There also used to be a great place to buy spirits at the Poly, selling a fun Davey Crocket wine that was pretty reasonable $$.

We usually take a town car from the airport and they always stop at a liquor store for us if we ask.

absolutely, i appreciate the conversation piece. i never heard of the shambooze until you had brought it up. the markup on Carnival is ridiculous...

Last year I brought a bottle of bourbon and 4 of the little single serving bottles of wine in our checked luggage. No problems at all.
