Bringing The Magic Home - 8/20/05

I've heard that the ships water is excellent too. It is just nice to have some right in the room without going to fill up bottles. If we have room, I'm going to bring one case from Costco and then use a combo of buying extra on board and filling a sports bottle on deck 9. Our room is as close to the bow as you can get on deck 6 - I will use the exercise going to the drink station and eat extra desserts. :rotfl2:

Glad to hear that too, I think my friend was just trying to scare me. How many people do you think would be at the meets?

Thanks
Patti

The deck 9 water is recycled from the ocean, and filtered and has no funny taste. It tastes a lot better than Evian, IMO. I can't see bringing even a 6 pack of bottled water. I have too much to bring as it is.

I plan to bring water on with me, but mainly for the port. We will bring 6 bottle off with us when we get off the ship (in a rolling backpack). Then as we finish the water we will just toss the bottles, rather than having to carry them back to the ship with us.

That's great news! They have a shop outside of Pirates at DL too. Donna? Can you check it out for me on one of your many trips in the next 7 days!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: I'll pick one up on Thursday!

Tracy
I looked at everything in that shop when we were there and I don't remember a cute hat like that...I'd've bought it for sure!

Hey Pam, tell Allan that if he brings a TP game I'll play him. Just not one of the strange ones like Sports or some such. I can do him in at the original game in about 10 minutes. Played once with the family and ran the whole board in one turn. They won't play that version with me anymore. :cool1: I have more trouble with the newer ones.
Estelle

Estelle, you're scaring me now!!! I love TP, but I couldn't be a match for you. You've got to give us a chance, you know!!! I bet the American version has questions about American football and baseball - things which us Brits wouldn't have a clue about.

Pam

Good morning everyone!! This time in a week I better be sleeping and not :hyper2: still from the night before, but I will be in California!!!

We'll be going to the parks, shopping with Donna and Howard, hanging at the pool, back to the parks, fireworks!!, then to the big party at HoJos!! You think it will still be going on after the fireworks ;) :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Well we are having a nightmare. We are suppossed to be flying out from the UK tomorrow to LA on British Airways, but right now they have cancelled all flights until 6pm tonight due to baggage handlers going on strike in support of workers at Gate Gormet (who supply BA with the food onboard the flights and who sacked 350 workers earlier this week). They may resume flights today but there are bound to be more delays and cancellations. We've looked at getting alternative flights but the earliest we could get would see us missing most of our time in LA next week.

We're just hoping that our flight will be on tomorrow, even if it ends up being delayed, if not we may even struggle to get out there for the cruise :-(

Sending PD and good wishes your way. Keep us updated!!!

I was wondering last night when I heard the news how many of our folks would be affected by these cancellations. Here's hoping everything works out and we see you onboard in just 8 days!

Lorraine, lots of good luck. Pave the way for us on the Isle of Man, we leave on Wednesday and are hoping that all will be back to normal by then.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Pam

Pixie dust to all our UK members that BA gets their act together quickly :goodvibes

Hmmm.. packing, what's packing ....

I can't believe I haven't started. Trying to decide if I should put suitcase on bed - then pull stuff out -- or stack the stuff first on the side of the bed then open up the suitcase. Sheesh...

Let's see - next Friday morning I will be wakening up - almost stress free - for my second complete day at DL/DCA.... shopping trip with Donna :cool1: , more fireworks or ELP ... then on to HOJO's for the meet.

Doeas anyone know of any books about the Panama Canal ? A little late but I would like to find out more about it and bring somthing interesting to read with me.
Thanks !

I'm waiting for the packing fairy to come and pack for us ! I know my family believes it will happen !

Good luck getting out of the UK. It is ALL OVER the news here. I really hope you get out of there soon.

Okay - gonna try and cover a bunch of ground here:

DEE29 - Try "Panama Canal by Cruise Ship" by Anne Vipond (make sure you get the 2004 version)

Lorraine - PD to you that BA gets everything worked out for your flight

Water - The ship uses a reverse osmosis system to turn sea water into purified drinking water. Even some bottled water companies use RO to purify their water! So the deck 9 water is actually very, very good!

Pattiwig - How many people at the meets? The Ship of Fools group has over 565 people in it and most are DISers! We are gonna rock the Magic!
