What is the rule for bringing food and drink into the parks. I thought you were not supposed to do it. I see people suggesting bringing these brita water bottles and I love that idea, but I didn't think you could bring drinks in. Are there some things you can and some you can't or what?

I believe the actual "rule" is - no food or drinks allowed in any of the parks. But in a minute you will be surprised to see that some people could unpack a Thanksgiving feast from their fannypacks, with leftovers for sandwiches the next day! There are all sorts of threads about this, and most people fall into the "bringing in a lunch-type meal, plus water and snacks" - I don't think anyone has been told to throw anything out, although I did read one person had to empty his flask, as no alcohol was permitted in the park other than what was served in the restaurants.

It amazes me what people will try to bring in - this is so different to me because I would never be happy with a PB&J squashed in my backpack at WDW. Too many delicious things on-site worth saving up for!!!!

Technically, you probably shouldn't bring food, but small snacks are usually let go. I always bring Brita filter bottles - I think they're allowed since they know we'll just be filling them with free water anyway, so they're not losing any money on those of us cheap enough to drink non-bottled water. :flower:

What are these Brita filter bottles? Where do I get one? I am intrigued... :listen:

I went to the brita site and although they have a picture and description they are not available for purchase there. People on here have said they got them from walmart/kmart type places and also ebay.

I got my Brita water filters at Wal-mart. I think they are in the plumbing area with other types of water filters. I found it worked out great.
I asked Guest Relations about the official food policy and they said you are only allowed to bring water into the parks. A few exceptions baby food, formula, etc.
It states on the guide map I am looking at "Food or Drink may not be brought into Epcot Center"
I know people do bring it in, but....they also take pictures in dark rides after being told not to. Smoke in non-designated areas. ........

Brita Bottles are great for people (and I'll admit - I'm one of them!) who have a 'sensitivity' to the taste of water.... If it don't taste like the water here at home, I can hardly gag it down. And WDW water did NOT taste like my water from home! Ugh! Anyway, a Brita bottle has a built-in filter in the lid, which filters out some of the chemicals & metallic tastes that can be in water...I wouldn't be able to live without mine! It allowed me (and my kids - they're as picky as I am...wonder where they got that??!!) to fill up our bottles at the drinking fountains, and not gag on the taste.

Keep in mind - other people can go to WDW and not have ANY problem with the taste of the water! Everyone is different, so only try to go and find a Brita bottle if you think you're someone like me who is very particular about their taste in water!

Here's a link to another thread which discusses the Brita bottles extensively, including on where to get them:

Peanut Butter and Jelly at WDW. I can eat that for lunch at home. I look forward to my the WDW Dining experience. Its not a vacation to me if I have to cook/pack or bring anything more than clothes and personals. On vacation, I want a menu not a baggie with hot sandwiches and hot soda/pop. My personal preference is to sacrific going to Starbucks daily or other things so I can enjoy the various "taste" of WDW.

However, you have to do what works for your income and budget!!!!! :earsgirl: :earsgirl: ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy:

Well...Me and the DH are sandwich and drink bringers :guilty: . My thinking behind it was about souvenirs. We usually ate once in the park maybe right before we left OR if we just had a hankering for a smoked Turkey leg( *HomerSimpson Drool*). We got a bunch of souvenirs with the money we saved. We didn't have--THANKSGIVING DINNER-- but we did have Granola bars, frozen water and two or three sandwiches. Trust me, Disney still got its money's worth out of us. pirate:

Disney really doesn't care what food or drink you bring in unless its alcoholic or in a glass container.

They definitely don't want you to bring in a george foreman grill, some steaks, cans of corn, and a big ol' apple pie. A couple of sandwiches here and there, bottled water, etc... they're all fine.

Think about it this way. What happens when you decide to eat at a monorail resort, have leftovers that you boxed up and you went back to the park. Are they going to stop you? Technically you bought the food on Disney property, and you never left Disney property.

Anyway, I don't pack anything with me except a bottle of water. Why? Because Disney has way too much good food offerings. I can eat PB&J any day at home, but I can't get a turkey leg at home, or Casey's hotdog, or a nice big Mickey ice cream bar at home! One of the pleasures of going to Disney is to eat their food!

I take my brita (hate the water at WDW) and always pack snacks for my girls since they need a snack every ten minutes or they think they will starve and die! They search my bag at the gates and I have never had anyone say something to me for bringing stuff into the park.

We have always brought snacks into the park along with our water bottle containers. Have they changed anything indicating that snacks are now not allowed? :confused3
Don't want to get in any disney trouble :rotfl:
