Bring us a Shrubbery!! May 25-June 1, 2007!!

It's not that I don't have stuff in my closet to wear to dinner at V&A, but I wanted something new and special. Bah! I hate spring and all these pastel dresses.

I think it's pretty much a law that you have to have new and special clothes for vacations. Especially for V&A. Hope you find something wonderful! Cuz we all know you aren't wearing something in your closet already.... :rotfl2:

Okay, after much annoyed shopping, both in store and on-line I've discovered a potential dress that could knock the natural curl right outta Jay's hair if;

1) I start exercising
2) I quit eating so much junk food
3) I lose 10 pounds in six weeks
4) I manage to add a little Florida tan to this cube-farm, operations center skin I've been sporting since late October.

Here's the new dress, which I actually like better than the one I just returned to Ann Taylor this weekend.

I should have it within the week. If this one doesn't fit then that's it - I'm going to have to pick something out of the closet and "make-do".

So, what do you think of this one? Ya think I can carry this off if I actually put a little effort into my hair and make-up for a change? ;)

Off topic, but I don't have a pre-trippie for October yet, and I'm not sure I can juggle that many threads, anyway!

Jay and I have decided on our first round of ADRs for our 10-day October trip. We know that things are going to change a bit once the dates and prices are released for the Food & Wine Festival events this summer, but since I can make our ADRs on April 18th, I thought I'd better get a move-on.

So here they are, because I have no one else to share this with who will really even care that it's taken me two months to figure it out. ;)

Dates of trip: October 15-October 25

Monday, October 15th - no idea when we'll arrive because SW hasn't released its travel dates past August. Dinner will be at the Yachtsman Steakhouse.

Tuesday, October 16th - We will probably graze around the world showcase but I think we're going to try dinner at Il Mulino, the new Italian restaurant that just opened at the Dolphin.

Wednesday, October 17th - Happy Birthday to me! Breakfast at the Crystal Palace and dinner at Bistro Paris. Can't make the ADR for Bistro until we're 30 days out, so this may change if Epcot offers an irresistable specialty / signature dinner on this evening.

Thursday, October 18th - We're leaving this day open for all kinds of reasons. I don't know about you, but seeing all the white space on my calendar for this date makes me nervous. :lmao:

Friday, October 19th - Breakfast at the Kona Cafe and we will be trying for the Le Cellier Food and Wine Pairing that should be offered this afternoon at 3PM.

Saturday, October 20th - Early lunch at Sc-Fi expressly for the purpose of trying a $10 milkshake. We're planning on drowning our canceled-cruise sorrows (the cruise leaves Port Canaveral at 5PM...:sad1: ) at Party for the Senses.

Sunday, October 21st - Dinner at Citricos.

Monday, October 22nd - Diiner at Flying Fish.

Tuesday, October 23rd - Lunch at Chefs de France.

Wednesday, October 24th - Dinner at Rose and Crown.

We left a lot of open space in those last four days which may change when the festival program is announced.

That's it for now! Thanks for reading along. :goodvibes

You can totally pull that off!! In fact, I am shocked that you would have to lose weight to get into that dress. What shoes are you wearing? Maybe black strappy heels? Beautiful dress, Brenda!

You go girlie!! That is def. a WOW dress! It's it kinda the same cut as the dress you wore to V&A in October? I think that one was black and kinda golden? I think it will be fantastic!! You should grab a copy of the May issue of Glamour Magazine. They have a workout routine that is super easy and gets results! I am already seeing a difference in my arms after two weeks! I can fax you a copy of the workout if you don't want to whole magazine.

Two words: Turbo Jam. I do the 20 minute workout and Ab Jam and have lost a ton of weight over the last 2 years. 10 pounds is nothing. I think Turbo Jam even promises several pounds lost in the first week.

And I love this dress. I could never pull it off, but I know you can! Can't wait to see the photos!

Sounds great! So we will join you for Kona, PFTS, all Food and Wine Pairings and Citricos. ;) We are still trying to nail down dates. :headache: Darn those in-laws!!

Love the dress! I think it will look fabulous on you! Great ADR choices for October too. I'm still stuck in October limbo, and it's making me really nervous! I've never had such a difficult time making plans, and I'm blaming it all on my parents coming along. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Thanks, Paige! I have a cute pair of high heeled black sandals that would look great with this dress.

As for the weight - one word: hormones.

It is similar in some ways to that dress I wore at V&A, but this one is more simple and I think will be more comfortable for a long dinner. I love that other dress, but it's heavy (lots of beading - think Flapper Girl!) and a little more form-fitting. I think this new choice will let me eat and breathe simultaneously - always a good thing!

Thanks for the heads up on Glamour - a friend of mine here at work actually has that issue at her desk and I'm going to photocopy some stuff from it and start trying it tonight.

I will check that out, too. Getting close to crunch time so I'll try anything!

And I love this dress. I could never pull it off, but I know you can! Can't wait to see the photos!

Thanks so much - keep your fingers crossed that this one fits the right way!

You just march right on over to those folks and tell them what your plans are, and that said plans include much eating and drinking in a place called EPCOT (every person comes out tipsy). ;)

Hope you can at least make PFTS - it would be a blast to experience that with you guys and hopefully Lori, too.

Thanks! I hope everyone here is right about that.

Great ADR choices for October too. I'm still stuck in October limbo, and it's making me really nervous! I've never had such a difficult time making plans, and I'm blaming it all on my parents coming along. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I really struggled with the October choices and I'm still not 100% happy with them, but until the Food & Wine stuff is released in July I'll just leave them alone (once I can actually make them, that is).

And I totally sympathize about making choices with the parents - it was so hard last year to try to pick restaurants that offered something everyone would enjoy. And then there's that whole "time" thing. Ugh! It's so much easier when you're planning for two.

You want to hear something funny?

A few years ago Jay and I went on a different vacation with the parents and we had had a late lunch, so no one was really hungry when the traditional dinner hour rolled around.

So we kept wandering around the town we were in, looking in shops, etc, and suddenly my mom pipes up, "When are we going to eat dinner?"

I shrugged and said, "We didn't think you guys were interested in dinner, since we just finished lunch at 2PM. We can stop somewhere if you want; we just didn't think about it because Jay and I really aren't hungry right now."

Mom's lips start to thin (a sure sign that she's annoyed). "Well it's almost 6 o'clock. Jon's hungry!"

Jon's look of blank surprise is priceless, as is his response. "I am?"

Ever since that day, whenever Jay and I are on vacation and it's getting close to time for dinner, Jason will look at his watch and say, "It's 6 o'clock - Jon's hungry!"

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

So not only did I have to worry about picking the right restaurant last year, but I had to make sure the time was just right, too!

Good luck, Lori - you'll be fine!! :goodvibes

I love the dress! Can I order the body to go with it???? :)

That dress is beautiful, you'll look great in it, what is the power jam thing I so need to do more exercise?

Umm, not to be dumb, but where is the picture of the dress? I don't see it anywhere here. :o

Thanks, DisneyJo - I hope you're right!

I think Turbo Jam is a group of workout dvds. I own the Slim in 6 Series, which is a 6-week workout program that I've had success with in the past. Correct me if I'm wrong, BrerMama, but I think Turbo Jam is from the same company, isn't it?

The dress is buried in a post on the previous page, but I like it so much that I'll put here again for everyone's viewing pleasure! ;)

Well no wonder you slacked on Foofarah! You are too busy planning FOOD over here! :rotfl:

I have to admit, I am a little disappointed.
1) I've never seen any Monty Python movie so I'm clueless about all yous guys jokes.
2) I hate cats :rotfl2:

I guess we always have HP! :goodvibes

I'm practically finished with Day 6... I updated twice over the weekend and then again last night - that's three updates in four days. You are hard to please, aren't you? :lmao:

Actually I haven't done a whole lot over here lately because I'm really trying to get the Argie-bargie finished before we leave next month.

You should go watch Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail. It's hysterical! :thumbsup2

I guess I won't introuduce you to our cat Handsome Pete (like the initials...HP). ;)

Speaking of Mr. Potter... there is a lady here in the office who got tickets from a family memeber who works at AMC to attend an advance screening of Order of the Phoenix.

I don't really know her all that well, but she started asking all kinds of HP questions yesterday which eventually led to the revelation that she was going to get to see the movie at least a month before the rest of us poor schmoes.

I hate her now. :lmao:

Nah I'm not hard to please. That was back when you didn't update for like a week!

I think I'll have to add MP to my Netflix queue! :thumbsup2

She should give you HER ticket for answering her questions! I hate her too. :rolleyes1

I would too. Except I'd probably stalk her and steal the tickets too. :lmao:

And I saw the dress. I swear, I'm not that dumb! :o I didn't see it, not even the little box with an x when the picture isn't working.. Sometimes my browser is dumb, and button and things don't show up. I switched browsers, and poof there it was! That is really, really pretty! You'll look great! :thumbsup2

You have to watch MP and the Holy Grail, that is the best movie! I have it on DVD. The part with the Black Knight is the best!! :thumbsup2

"It's just a scratch!"
"It's just a flesh wound!"
:lmao:

Hey everybody! Busy busy week at work but some good news when I got home this evening...

the dress I ordered arrived today and it's lovely! Fits quite well, other than needing to have the top taken in a bit (chestless...that's me).

It's a very flattering cut - I'm so excited!

Have a great weekend!

PS. Made all of our October ADRs...we're set until the Food & Wine programs are released in July. :thumbsup2

Hi Brenda,

Just jumped on your pre-trip thread.
Love the dress, I'm happy it works for you. You looked gorgeous in the previous V&A dress.
I feel like I should send you a commission check. I keep stealing your ideas for activities for my September/October anniversary/last kid just left for college trip. We are doing Mandara, thanks to you, and I'm going to copy again by ordering the champagne and strawberries for the room. (Not interested in the stinky horse this time, will save that for December '08).
Going to jump back and see if you posted any more on your past trip report.
Deb
