Bring us a Shrubbery!! May 25-June 1, 2007!!

I'm still waiting for a chance to take a ride with the man of my dreams behind a flatulent horse.

Now that is a recipe for romance! :lmao:

:lmao: :lmao: My dh and I once decided to do a romantic horse ride on the beach, only problem was that there were a big group of us and no matter what dh did his horse had to be right behind the pregnant horse that was very flatulent! Romantic no, hillarious yes!!!

Heyy, I’m new to this all but i got excited when i saw that you were going to Disney the same week we are- a complete stranger, but 100% happy. This will be my # 6 since my wife wanted to go on our honeymoon- since then I’ve been Disney obsesed- no family vacation is worth it unless it involves a Disney park. We can escape our busy lives. Last year we visited family on the gulf and could only do the Magic Kingdom one day- we opened and closed the park- with an 8 and 5 year old, and they were wide awake until we got on the monorail to go home- insane! This year we’re going May 26- June 2 in honor of our girls’ birthdays in May. Nevertheless, the best part is that we will be there for our youngest 6th birthday on the 29th- any tips from any one is very welcomed; however, we are on a budget- how can we make this day extra special?

Don't forget to stop in and get her Birthday Button! This has always brought me extra magic throughout my day. And Welcome To The DIS!!! :welcome:

Welcome to the DIS, Welshbelly (great name, by the way) and thanks for posting!

To echo what DisneyDuet said, be sure to stop in at Guest Services at any of the theme parks and get the girls a birthday button. That will really make them feel special! And if you have reservations anywhere, especially at a character meal location, be sure to let them know in advance that you are celebrating a birthday. There are no guarantees that they will do anything, but I've heard that some restaurants will decorate your table, bring out a small birthday dessert, or give a birthday card that's been signed by the characters. If you're staying on property be sure to let the hotel staff know -and you may find a special birthday surprise in your room one day (again, no guarantees, but it can't hurt to let them know.)

That's all I can think of right now. If anyone else has any suggestions feel free to post 'em here. :goodvibes

I hope you have a lovely trip. Be sure to say hello if you happen to see us wandering around in search of a drink. ;)

Well, if you can't go off topic on your own thread, then where can you?

Some of you here may know that Jay and I also have a WDW trip planned for this October. Two trips to the Mousetrap in one year is not typical of us but we were supposed to take a Disney Cruise in October and we had to cancel so we ended up at the World instead. Not that we're complaining because the F&W Festival means good times indeed come October.

But...I'm struggling with the ADR set-up for October and we can start making them on the 18th.

Part of the problem is knowing that we want to take part in some special dining events that will be offered during the Festival but not knowing which days / evenings they might be offered on. I can guess based on events from previous festivals, but it seems like whenever I do that Disney changes everything on me and messes up my finely laid plans.

So, what do I know that we want to do?

Party for the Senses on October 20th
Food & Wine Pairing at Le Cellier (most likely on October 19th)
A Signature Dinner or Exquisite Evening, depending on price and choice

We'd also like to try the following restaurants:

Yachtsman Steakhouse
Flying Fish
Citricos
Bistro Paris
Crystal Palace
Il Mulino
Sci-Fi (lunch and $10 alcoholic milkshake!)

And I must also work in these old stand-bys:

Rose & Crown
Kona Cafe
Afternoon Tea at the Gardenview Lounge
Le Chefs (lunch is the bargain here)
Yacht Club Galley

And somehow we must find the time and extra stomach to eat and drink around the World Showcase...

Oh what is a compulsive over-planner to do???

Brenda-Have you been to Sci-Fi before? If not, my unsolicited advice is don't get anything fancy. It was a little bit disappointing for our family. The set up is great, you know, a drive-in. Your best bet is to order "drive-in" food, i.e., hamburgers, shakes. I think I ordered pasta and it really wasn't that good. It was a fun experience though, so I really blame myself for trying to order restaurant food at a drive-in.

Hey Paige!

Thanks for the advice. We've never been but thought it would be fun to try - for lunch only. What we really like is the idea of sitting in one of those cars watching cheesy sci-fi movies while sharing overpriced alcohol infused milk shakes! We were totally planning on burgers here to help soak up the ice creamy booze! :thumbsup2

Lionel would suggest that you definately pick the Yachtsman - he waited tables there for many years while he went to school and STILL (5 years later) refers to it as "my" steakhouse.

:rotfl2:

It IS fun. The cars are really cool. Actually, Rob and I enjoyed it more than the kids and I think that is because we had each other to talk to and they were in the other two benches....and Derek had too many shakes! We did Rockin Roller Coaster after that. Poor baby had a tummy ache ( I laughed secretly--bad mom). Quite funny actually!

These were our desserts. They were both very good!
Cheesecake (there were extra goodies ont he plate)

Warm Apple & Pecan Crisp

disgrits -- I haven't eaten dinner yet! Now all I want is assorted-fruit-crisp and ice cream!

The last few times at the World, we did Sci Fi. I'd agree with most of the opinions -- stick to the simple stuff -- and enjoy the atmosphere! A side note -- we've always gotten great service there, too.

Now where did I put my dessert? Oh, right...I don't have any. :sad1:

Welcome to my world, Brenda!

October is making me crazy, too....for the same reasons and more!

And I think most of the ladies who post to your various threads seem to me
to fit in nicely with enjoying eating and drinking. If the Girls Trips didn't
conflict with my work I'd be going with them. :)

And since you mentioned Ned Flanders, I found him at WDW. Actually,
at the Adventurers Club. And since I didn't want him to see me take his
photo, I turned off the flash. So it's a bit fuzzy. Enjoy:

"Hidely ho there neighbor!" I stared at him, thinking there was something
familar about him, until I picked up on the Ned Flanders similarity. ;)

We'd also like to try the following restaurants:

Crystal Palace

Were you thinking breakfast or dinner? We did dinner and were not impressed. I've heard that breakfast is better. The character interaction was wonderful, we just didn't think the food was that great.

That sounds like as good a recommendation as we're going to get. I think we may go here on our first night - that way we don't have to stray too far from the resort and we can be really lazy. :thumbsup2

Excellent! Thank you very much for the additional input on Sci-fi. I think this would be a great early lunch on the Saturday that we want to attend Party for the Senses (10/20).

We do seem to have a nice group of good eatin' and drinkin' ladies posting here, don't we? All of us together would make for one boisterous good time, especially during F&W! And that picture of Ned is terrific. Fine and dandy like sour candy, to quote the man himself. :lmao:

Thanks for the heads up Denise! I wanted to do Crystal Palace for breakfast - mostly because I love the idea of getting into MK an hour early before there are any crowds! ;)

We loved Crystal Palace, both lunch and brkfst. But especially the puffed french toast at breakfast. Like a doh-nut with sweet syrupy goodness poured all over it. Drool, drool, gargle, drool.

Not fond of Sci Fi, but for burgers and shakes and attacking 60 ft. women, it should be fine.

P.S. - Enclosed in my siggy is my proposed trip title. What do you think?

Mmmmmm...puffed french toast. Sounds like that's worth the price of admission right there!

Your trip report title is great! :lmao: :lmao:

That's hysterical!! Great find! :rotfl2:
Hi can just see him saying: "Hi-diddly-hey, neighbour-ino!"

We had dinner there for my daughter's birthday, and we were not impressed at all either. The characters were great, I got a great picture of DD with Piglet), but the food was icky. I ate 2 chicken fingers from the kids part, because the 'adult' food looked gross. Definatly not worth the money for us.

Of course, I come from the land of truly awesome buffets, where you get 4 times the food selection, for a cheaper price.

Breakfast does sound good though. :)

Trying to decide where to have dinner on my birthday (October 17th).

I've narrowed it down to Bistro Paris or Citricos... what do you think? Or do you have an alternative suggestion? Dazzle me with your ideas!! :thumbsup2

I'd go for either, but I'd lean toward Bistro. That's on my short list of
restaurants to return to after a long absence.

Thanks for the input - Bistro is one I really wanted to try last year that we ended up canceling at the last minute. I think a birthday dinner there would a nice way to celebrate.

I ordered that beautiful dress from Ann Taylor last week and it showed up on Thursday and while it fits me it's not a flattering cut. Crap!

I returned it to the store today and now I'm totally bummed out. I found a couple of other options on-line at Nordstrom but none of them are available until June or July. :headache:

It's not that I don't have stuff in my closet to wear to dinner at V&A, but I wanted something new and special. Bah! I hate spring and all these pastel dresses.

Back to square one...

Opens closet...thumbs through several dresses that no longer fit or are too casual...and turns to husband..."I have nothing to wear!" :lmao: :lmao:
