Bring on the Noise.........reduction software.

So one of my biggest peeves when I shoot at night is the noise. For whatever reason, it just drives me crazy. I think it's time to purchase some reduction software either as a stand alone or plug in with Adobe Elements. I'd love any suggestions you guys and gals have and if you have any examples I would really appreciate it.

A lot of people here recommend Light Room 3 for it's noise reduction ability. B&H had it on sale for $150 about 10 days ago so I'd hope for more sales in the future from other places.

I got Light Room 3 but I'm slowly working through the tutorials so I can't give you an appraisal or examples of it's magical noise reducing properties yet.

It seems to work well and it is free. I don't shoot much that requires noise reduction so I haven't used it very much and don't really have anything to compare it to. I bought Lightroom3 a while ago but haven't used its noise reduction yet.

I use Topaz Labs DeNoise5. I use it as a plug-in for Elements. IMO it does a great job.

Another vote for Topaz DeNoise. Very flexible, works very well at removing noise without ruining the detail.

It works with either Photoshop or Photoshop Elements.

Another vote for Lightroom 3...I have been pleasantly surprised at my results using the noise reduction feature.

Topaz DeNoise gets my vote for really bad noise. But mild noise can be cleaned up in Photoshop or Lightroom pretty easily. YOu can do really bad noise in Photoshop, it's just a multi-step process. DeNoise is much easier.

If you have a student in your family (anyone in K through college), you can get LR 3 Student edition for a lot less. You just need to submit proof (school id, transcript, etc). My son is following in my footsteps so I picked it for the both of us.

Thanks guys. Right after I posted, I went and found Topaz DeNoise and installed the trial version and like the layout so far. I'm going to keep playing around before I order anything. Now I need to go out and take a bunch of really noisey pictures
