for those of you that have stayed in a place that has a full kitchen:

has anyone ever brought a crockpot? i was planning on buying some premade meals to heat in the oven, but those can take hours to bake if they're frozen (plus i'm sure we'll be eating out quite a bit anyway, so i want some "regular" food to feed the kids) . i was wondering if a crockpot would be an easier way to feed the 9 of us..i can think of a bunch of recipes that need only a few items and can "keep" for a few hours sitting in the pot (which gives us quite a bit of flexibility in our schedule) .

i can't think of why FW would have a problem with one of these in our cabin, can you?

thanks for the input....we get to leave in 4 days!!!!!!!!

I have read about a lot of people taking crock pots. You might want to go and post this over in the DVC Discussion board. Lots of the DVC owners cook their own meals since the rooms have full kitchens. They also have lots of wonderful ideas regarding quick meals.

We use the crock pot alot at home here are a few easy recipes we use:

Classic Beef Roast with Mushroom-Onion Gravy

MD LG

3 5 pounds of boneless beef chuck roast
1 2 (1 ounce) envelopes dry onion soup mix
1 2 (10 Ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup

Place roast in crock. Sprinkle onion soup on roast then spoon undiluted soup cover and cook:

low - 8 hrs
high - 4 hrs

Sunday Chicken

MD LG

3 1/2 7 pounds chicken cut up
1 2 (10 Ounces) cans condensed cream of celery soup
1/2 3/4 Cup of white wine or chicken broth
Paprika, salt and pepper

I just basically put the chicken at the bottom, put the salt etc on it put the soup & chicken broth on top and turn it on.

Low - 6 hrs
high - 4 hrs

I don't know if kids would like it but it sure is good and easy.

I always take my crock pot with me. It's so nice to come back to our place and have a meal waiting on us, instead of going to a busy restaurant and waiting for service.

This summer I even packed my Mickey waffler for our stay at the FW cabins. What fun to have Mickey waffles without even stepping out the door to go anywhere!

How timely!! the DIS board on cooking just had some amazing dessert crock pot recipies on it last weekend. Search for Crock Pot Dessert and it should bring them up.
Yummy.

I just picked up one of the new crock-pot dinners at the store today. All you add is the meat and everything else (veggies, noodles etc. )is included. We have not tried it but will post as how it taste when we do. That would be so simple to throw together in the am.

There is also a variety (Banquet brand, I think) in the frozen food section where you just open the bag and throw it in. We like the chicken and dumplings pretty well but did not care for the beef stew. There are other varieties as well. We used two bags for our family, so it was about $12, but certainly easy.
