I think we are all jealous of a girl who didn't graduate high school, has had many broken engagements, drives drunk, etc. I am absolutely jealous of how she got to campaign and encourage people to vote. It was her platform. Such a wonderful gal! Such a noble thing to encourage youth to vote! Go Paris!! Too bad she has NEVER voted, nor is she even registered

Paris Hilton better like chicken.

The hotel heiress was sentenced Friday to 45 days at the Century Regional Detention Center, Los Angeles County's jailhouse for women just south of downtown in Lynwood.

Inmates get three low-sodium meals a day, with dinner the only hot meal. Beef and pork aren't permitted _ "it's all poultry-based," said Capt. Alice Scott, who oversees the 2,200-inmate facility she describes as "a very nice place."

Like other high-profile Los Angeles County inmates _ O.J. Simpson, Robert Blake, Robert Mitchum, Sirhan Sirhan and Charles Manson _ Hilton will be segregated from the general population for her own safety, living in a one- or two-person cell.

Her cell will be Spartan: 12-by-8 feet with a toilet, sink and a window 6 inches wide. She'll comb her blonde locks in a mirror made of polished metal.

Breakfast is served between 6 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., hours when Hilton sometimes gets in after a night of partying.

Inmates in segregation are allowed outside their cells for at least an hour each day to shower, watch television in the day room, participate in outdoor recreation or talk on the telephone, Scott said. There are a bank of phones that use prepaid phone cards _ cellular telephones and Blackberries aren't allowed.

There have been other celebrities at the women's jail. Actress Daryl Hannah, arrested last year for failing to leave a 14-acre inner-city garden where farmers were being evicted, spent a few hours there.

A year ago, former "Lost" actress Michelle Rodriguez showed up to serve a 60-day jail sentence for violating probation terms after her drunken driving arrest in Hawaii. She was released in hours because of overcrowding.

Sometimes stars are allowed to do their time in a jail of their choosing. In such cases celebrities pay a daily room-and-board fee to the smaller jails, which afford them more privacy and comfort.

Sean Penn found a jail in Bridgeport, a remote town on the eastern flank of the Sierra, to serve a 60-day sentence in 1987 for fighting with a photographer in violation of his probation for a barroom brawl.

Cop-slapping actress Zsa Zsa Gabor served three days behind bars in 1990 at the El Segundo jail near the Los Angeles International Airport. She paid $85 a day.

But the judge in Hilton's case wouldn't allow such an arrangement, so she'll head to Lynwood on June 5.

After reading the other posters comments about jealousy, I was going to make several comments, but you've summed it up nicely.

Unfortunately our prisons are filled with people who had irresponsible parents. I'm not saying that is the case with Paris. There are a lot of privileged people who take a lot of things for granted, but they're still not devoid of common sense. She did commit a crime and I'm not sure why some are so outraged by the fact that others get off for less. Why would that make it alright for her to get away with it?? If this whole experience does teach her some valuable life lessons, then that's a positive in my opinion.

On a related Hilton family DUI note...my mother was vacationing in February in Scottsdale AZ and staying at the HILTON HOTEL. Her third day there, she was walking to her car, when the HILTON VALET DRIVER, came flying around the parking lot and ran my mother over with a car. She had to be rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery to have a steel rod put in her leg as it had been broken. She ended up with many serious injuries which are on going. Anyway, come to find out, the HILTON VALET DRIVER, was driving on a SUSPENDED LICENSE for a DUI. He tried to lie to the cops about why he did not have a license. Of course the cops had the resources to find out the truth. The manager of the HILTON HOTEL, had told the cops to haul him off to jail because he had ISSUES. Now why oh why, would a huge hotel chain let one of their valet drivers still be employed, parking cars, with a suspended license for DUI????

At this point, I have completely no respect for the whole Hilton family!! They seem to live and operate their lives by their own rules!!

That's the video I was talking about! She's disgusting. I have no sympathy whatsoever for her. Oh, and I tried to find the link to it but it says it is no longer available. She is serving time because she drove drunk, was put on probation, had her license revoked, and then drove around without it anyway because she seems to think she is above the law. And I love how she tried to play dumb saying that she didn't know her license had been revoked. Yeaaaaah, okay. Anyway, I agree that law enforcement isn't about teaching spoiled kids a lesson but if you do the crime you do the time and that's all there is to it.

OMG. Your poor mother That is just horrible.

I am not surprised, though. According to Paris's mommy, DUIs are no big deal So I can see the Hilton mindset travels right on down to their employees

I don't know about the law down there, but usually sentences for probation violations are not negotiable. You serve the whole time.

This is the attitude I have a problem with. Not the fact that she was sentenced for a crime she obviously committed.
