Breaking News: BLT Units 2A & 2B declared

I think you can rest assured it won't be the same price, probably not even close to the same price. Time will tell, however.

Time will tell. Agreed. But I only have about 3 days to cancel my AKV addon if so desired. Like I said this is a tough one.

There is a lot that goes into that personal decision. Do you need the points right away? Chances are it will be more than a year before you can use them. If this is something you and your family want, can wait to use the points, and can swing it then by all means beg out of the add on and play the waiting game with the rest of us :rotfl:

You can also compare the same language from the AKV Declaration: studio = 14; 1BR = 34; 2BR = 45 and GV = 88.

The AKV points don't seem to line up with any particular season or class of room.

A Value Studio is 14 points in Premier, but the Value 1BR is 27. A GV is 88 points Fri-Sat in Choice. So I'm not sure the declared point values necessarily mean a whole lot.

I also can't quite tell from the language that those would be the cheapest points (lowest class of room if multiples, Sun-Thu Adventure Season), but that is my guess, which definitely makes it more expensive than AKV (standard studio Sun-Thu Adventure is 9 points). In fact, those are more expensive than the Concierge class at AKV (13/27/37).

That would give them 2009 to finish selling AKV

I believe I'll put my foot in my mouth and say I'll eat my hat if they sell out AKV in 2009.

They will be for sale concurrently. You can almost bet the farm on that. Remember many of us bought Kidani in April of 2008 (maybe even earlier) and we can't use AKV until May 2009. They could EASILY start selling BLT any day now. They just have to explain the rules and throw out some SSR dev points. Just like they did for AKV for many of us. ;)

Anybody see page 74?

each Club Member will always be eligible to reserve at the Condeminium subject to availability at least

1) Use Day in a study for every 16 home point
1) Use Day in a one-bedroom for every 39 home resort vacation points
1) Use day for every 54 home resort vacation points; or at least
1) Use day in a Grand Villa for every 96 home resort vacation points

So, I would use that as low season?

Compare: BWV Adventure Season, Preferred view = 12, 22, 30, 74?
Magic Season, Preferred view = 14, 30, 40, 108

Those are the so-called "Maximum Reallocation" values. If DVC were to go with a completely flat system where every night of the year cost the same amount of points, it would be 16 points per night for a Studio, 39 points per night for a 1B, and so on.

Don't confuse it with the lowest season on the point charts. It's more of a weighted average taking into account the highest and lowest values they will publish. There will still be nights when a studio costs more than that and nights when it costs less.

We've known these values since at least February when similar filings were made with other state agencies. I posted a comparison of all resorts Maximum Reallocation values HERE.

We considered adding on AK Aug 08 use year back in August. Called my guide last Thursday to tell him its a go. Well, no more Aug08 pts left. We were put on the waitlist. I ? the time frame for the incentive and thought we could just get 09 instead. He told me to hold off rushing into it, call back mid next week. They are waiting to hear news on an October promotion and I may just want to wait. He couldn't tell me more because "we don't know anything yet, because it does not exist" (BLT)

Regarding the Aug08 vs. 09 points, there really isn't such a thing in that respect. The sell "August" UY points, not points for a specific year, and August must be sold out. You go on the waitlist for either: 1) More points to be declared into inventory with the near completion of additional Kidani units (are they all declared yet?) or B) Disney to exercise ROFR on some August points on resale.

It is interesting that they used the phrase "it does not exist"...because if it didn't really exist, they wouldn't say it didn't. Did he give a little fake cough when he said it? :)

I added on at AKV last week. This is a tough decission, I can still cancel if I choose. I originaly was gonna wait for BLT but I wasn't sure it would hapen or when. I never thought it would happen this week. I love AKV but if it was the same price I would take BLT. Any suggestions?

You don't have to add on now. Wait a month or so assuming the news and price comes out and then if you don't like it you can always put yourself in for another add on later.

Thanks for that comparison, Suzanne. Doesn't seem quite so bad as at first glance.

popcorn::

I am excited about this. We plan on buying in late winter or early spring 2009. Maybe even talk Santa into it. I hope the price per point ins't as carzy as some have speculated. I would be willing to pay a premium, but not a ton.

The point allocations are still the same as was in the filing 4 months ago

BLT 16/39/54/96

The listed allocation for the other resorts were

OKW 15/30/40/65
BWVP 18/36/46/100
BWVS 15/30/40/100
VWL 18/36/46/xxx
BCV 18/36/46/xxx
SSR 16/36/45/90
AKV 15/36/45/99

Definitely looks like the “raise the price” managers won out over the “raise the points”
Managers

Great for me since I gave up on the idea of buying a few points when the new reservation systems implications for short stays became evident.

I will love staying with my $68/pt points when the initial rush is over.

Interesting that they did away with almost all of the studio+1br VS 2br differential.

I guess I will get to see how close my point chart guesses I did 3 moths a go end up being.

This is exciting!!! for some reason the links won't work for me.

So it looks like studio point requirements are roughtly the same, 1 BRs are about 8% higher points, and 2 BRs are about 20% higher points, and GV are roughly the same point requirements. I'm still wondering what the $/point will be, along with everyone else. The point requirements COULD mean that it's cheaper to reserve a studio plus 1BR than to reserve a 2 BR. I wonder if that's how it will end up?

I know the total room count (2br+GV) was specified somewhere, does anyone remember what it was.

I am coming up with 187 outside 2br and 104 inner 2br, 22 outer GV and either 4 or 10 inner GV.

Based on the number of units, how hard do you think it will be to reserve at the 7 month window?

I had just convinced myself to add-on with the current AKL incentive yesterday morning and then I read this. Good thing my guide was out of the office yesterday:rotfl:

TIA!
